WJXN, WRTM and other Jackson radio stuff

So, what's the latest with WJXN? Has anyone stepped up to lease the station?

WRTM: Are they still looking to move into the metro area and if so, when?

92.7: This is the translator station that New South Radio recently bought. Is it coming back on the air?

Finally, are we any closer to getting a new rock station or anybody flipping to something else?

Someone could put Jack FM promos on WJXN-FM and add a ad sales force and leave it as that. No format change is needed. But instead of Jack FM name it Bob FM, Ben FM, Joe FM, you get the picture. Or if you could get the call letters and convince Flinn BC to change the call letters to WZZQ-FM, (not to be confused with WZZQ-AM in NC) something that would connect with the bad old days. I wonder if they would also lease you the temporary format as well as the station.

Sounds vaguely like "The Pig," a station which has popluated various Flinn frequencies over the course of the years up here in Memphis. (Not Mandy, but the station in the Jackson Free Press article). IIRC, Flinn started it at 107.5 between formats, then moved it to other of his dial positions as the various frequencies would be needed for more commercial use.

The Pig was a permanent format on 107.5 before changing back to CHR as Q107.5. When that happened, the Pig was moved to 96.1. 96.1 now is a simulcast of 107.5. If I'm not mistaken, the Pig was then moved to 87.7, which is now a conservative talk station (or is it the other way around?).

I drove on 51 and I don't know if I didn't drive down far enough, but I saw two transmitter: one that was near and engineering & construction business and one on Yandell Road next to Madison Crossing Elementary. Could either one of them be WRTM's tower? Also, where would there studio be located once the move to the metro is made?

I'm not sure I understand all of the previous comments.
Could someone summarize for me? Is WJXN just
a placeholder for a new station? What is the impact
of the new tower? Is Flinn interested in selling time
on the station as currently formatted?

We're talking about 2 different stations here. WRTM-FM 100.5 (owned by Carl Haynes) is moving their transmitter site from near Port Gibson to the Madison / Canton area. WJXN-FM 100.9 (owned by Flinn Broadcasting in Memphis) has been under an LMA with EMF Broadcasting until recently. Flinn is running the Memphis Pig format on WJXN until a new LMA and format is in place.

Thanks, realized I had confused the two after I posted. Could you translate
the above sentences for me (as you can tell, I'm not well versed in the lingo).
Assume an LMA is some kind of leasing agreement? I ask because I have a
client interested in the station and leasing time, and can't get anyone at
Flinn to respond. Is it possible they already have a deal done?

Thanks in advance for your patience. One more thing: Memphis Pig format?
