WJZA 103.5 and WODB 104.3 have flipped

I got into my car about 4:25 pm and heard a medley of song clips with either a "goodbye" or "the end" theme. At about 4:32 they played an Earth, Wind, and Fire song. It is now "Rewind 103-5 and 104-3", sounds like a rhythmic 70's - 80's mix, probably not hard enough to keep the real rhythmic fans happy. Being an oldies fan, I'm sorry to see Big Hits gone. Damn, now I'll have to go out and get my own freakin' radio station!

There was a thread here earlier, but it looks like it got deleted. Anyway... looks like they're going after The Brew more than Gen X, but there is some overlap with 107.9. CC would never do that.

Re "CC would never do that": I would've said the same thing a year ago, but CC/Columbus seems to have gradually moved toward a cluster strategy which allows a bit more overlap between some of the stations where it makes sense.  IOW, they have become more like the rest of country.  I've heard a fair number of songs on Gen-X that the Brew still plays, even as the stations retain very distinct music and imaging identities overall.

So it wasn't just me then that was wondering where the old thread went... :(

That being said, there are some videos posted on YouTube of the late, great WQIO/93.7 (when it was CHR and all-local) waaaay back in the late 80s. Judging by lovejammingoldies previous analysis of the station earlier... I would really hope that "Rewind" could take serious cues from WQIO's old imaging, jingles and airsound. (Maybe even cut liners like "And now, another Super Music Mix on the Mighty Rewind 1035/1043!")

I did some thinking about the station's concept, and as Mix now really is more of a 90s onward format, and Sunny carries the softer end of the spectrum, this really should have no overlap. One word of advice, however: do not shy away from the 80s new wave, dance tracks, or other one-hit wonders. Create a real "Wow!" factor.

Plus, I didn't give them kudos yet for not making this station a satellite-fed product, either.
