WJZA get's construction permit

How long till it's on the air? And do you think they will do a format change when it does happen?http://svartifoss2.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/ws.exe/prod/cdbs/pubacc/prod/app_det.pl?Application_id=1116551

On paper, the primary signal looks pretty good and is slatted to cover most of Columbus proper. That should get some numbers with the at-work professionals downtown who will finally be able to hear WJZA's signal on their radios at work (unless building penetration is bad or lots of RF is coming off of the downtown FM towers which could affect 103.5's signal).I think 104.3's signal is going to be the wild card in terms of format change. With 103.5 moving closer to town, the necessity of the simulcast isn't really needed unless Saga really wants a city-grade smooth jazz signal in Dublin.

I was actually kind of disappointed at their coverage map. Doesn't compare to what WHIZ will get. My understanding is that this is a coalition format in terms of demographics and income, but I'd imagine that still includes a lot of higher income suburbanites. So an area like Dublin would seem crucial, making it more likely they'll keep the simulcast. Remains to be seen about the important aspect fo downtown office penetration given the havoc the WBNS tower can wreak for stations with outlying towers, especailly class A's.

You want numbers, you probably want a signal in Dublin (and the 'burbs to the north and west. Whether they stick with smooth jazz or go to something else, the 104.3 simulcase could be crucial. I do think they might be better served by flipping the 103.5/104.3 simulcast to oldies. That Delaware 107.9 signal ain't exactly a flamethrower.

Re: WJZA get's construction permit (Clarification to My Reply)

Technical Fun: I like the fact that this new system facilitates quoting from two or more previous posters at once. But when I did this, in the top part containing my reply to Columbus Radio Fan it was unclear where the quote ended and my reply began. It made it look like everything including my reply were part of the quote. Maybe you're supposed to put all the quotes at the top and then reply, instead of doing quote-reply, quote-reply as I tried. I couldn't find any way to edit or delete ??? and I don't want to make it appear that someone else said something they didn't, so for the record here's how it should have looked:From Columbus Radio Fan April 25, 2006, 12:17:56 pm: How long till it's on the air? Re: WJZA get's construction permit (Another Oddity of the New Board)

A P.S. on the technical issue: Just noticed that the post "modify" privilege evaporates in minutes , so that explains why I could no longer edit my post with the unclear quotes. The modify button disappeared after I had briefly aborted the edit to take a quick look at the help files. The ephemeral 'Modify" option likewise explains why I ended up having to do THIS as a new post instead of modifying the last one. Better hope no one calls or stops by when you're trying to edit a post ;).(OK, I'm already burnt out on the smileys.)
