WJZI-93.3.......

This does not surprise me...the stations management was never fully committed to a successful "Smooth Jazz" format anyway. As I've been saying all along, WJZI had to do was mimic Jones Smooth Jazz/WAUN 92.7-FM in Green Bay to vastly improve their product.

Isn't it ironic that a station like Jones Smooth Jazz/WAUN 92.7-FM in Green Bay is prospering, while at the same time "Smooth Jazz" in Milwaukee officially dies as of today. ???

If that's the case, I'm suprised WJZI didn't make this format adjustment a long time ago... say, right after 97.3 flipped to "The Brew" 2-1/2 years ago.

WJZI's playlist slowly became more and more AC ever since the corporate bubbleheads there decided to remove Jeff Peterson, and then Steve Scott as PD...the final nail in the coffin really happened when they replaced Steve Scott with 97.3's Stan Atkinson. Yesterday's dagger to the heart of the SJ format in Milwaukee was just a formality and just a matter of time.

WJZI is still playing some SJ songs...however given yesterday's developments, does anyone think that will last?

I'll repeat...the irony here is tragic, given the recent success of Jones Smooth Jazz/WAUN 92.7-FM in Green Bay!! :( :-[

I pass by the station a lot as I'm flipping through the dial. Maybe it's just me, but I don't here much difference in the music. I was expecting more of a WLTQ, but that's not the case. It's like the jazz is still there, but not in their name.

As I predicted, the final demise and death of SJ in Milwaukee occurred yesterday...
