WJZI Decatur

AM 1540 in Decatur has a new format and new calls ... WJZI, the "Jazz of Indiana" ... mainstream jazz (not smooth).

When did this happen? Anyone know if they're syndicated or local? Right now the 2 hour syndicated "Radio Deluxe" program is running.

Website at wjzi.com offers a stream but no programming info. I heard CBS News at the TOH.

Even smooth Jazz has done poorly but since WTLC isn't listenable in Decatur maybe the large urban audience will support this, guffaw.

I hope the format works out for them, but there's not that much of a commercial listener base for mainstream jazz. Kudos to them, however, for giving it a go and giving some music variety to the airwaves of Northeastern Indiana.
