Did 97.7 WKAF just fall off the chart, or
was it incorporated into WAAF?

A "limited coverage area" is a huge overstatement. I can barely pick up the station in some parts of Brockton and Taunton.

WKAF is a 100% simulcast of WAAF. I don't know if Arbitron actually combined the two in the latest book, I don't think they did because I think it would say WAAF-FM/WKAF-FM if they did.

However, I would consider the WAAF rating to be effectively a combination rating for both stations, because what listener is going to fill out the call letters WKAF in a diary? They don't promote those letters at all, and they only say them once an hour when they have to. I doubt most 97.7 listeners are even aware of the WKAF call letters, they probably just think WAAF has two frequencies (not knowing that would not be legally possible), and they would fill out WAAF in a diary regardless of whether they were listening on 97.7 or 107.3.

It does say WAAF/WKAF.

Speaking of which looks like the latest 12 + ratings are in at radioandrecords.com

WBZ ranks first, went up slightly. WKLB up a very tiny notch and we'll see what the new freq does.
WRKO up slightly, WEEI down. 'ODS up slightly--went to all-Christmas a month ago. WILD (AM), listed
as gospel though they recently switched back to talk--up a bit. The AAR simulcast down a tiny notch;
WTKK stays the same.

It's said WKOX and WXKS (new Tropical "rumba" format on the way) can't cover the Merrimack Valley
too well. yes, but Costa-Eagle's WNNW does cover some ground in that arean and finished half-decently.

I'm actually glad it doesn't reach down this far because it now give me the opportunity to pull in 97.5 and 97.9 which wasn't possible when they originated from Brockton.

They are one in the same. WKAF's ratings get credited to WAAF.

Since some of you have mentioned ratings... Here is the latest ratings trend for Boston concerning WAAF (and WKAF).

WAAF emerges victorious over WBCN among total persons 12+, Adults 18-34, Adults 25-54 and any other demo you might inquire about. Make no mistake about it, WAAF is clearly the most listened to rock station in Boston and all of New England for that matter. Among the many highlights in this trend is that WAAF is a clear #3 among ADULTS 18-34 in Boston 6am-Midnight bested only by Hip Hop WJMN and CHR Kiss 108 who are #1 and #2 respectively. WAAF has a 7.5 share in this key demo and continues to defeat WBCN by more than 2 full share points. WBCN is stalled down at a 5.3 share. Same place they were in the prior trend (5.2).

As for Mornigns at WAAF (and WKAF)

Adults 12 + WAAF has a 4.3 share in mornings while Opie and Anthony trail with a 3.0 share. (Fyi - Just WAAF's Hill-Man Morning Show here in Boston is beating O&A, Preston and Steve are doing the same to them in Philly). Rumor has it that other O&A markets are underperforming as well. It's a tough go for the talented O&A because while "content is king, LOCAL content is King Kong". WAAF's morning show's rating is proof.

Now, Among Adults 18-34, WAAF's Morning Show has a 12.2 share while Opie and Anthony are behind and down at an 8.2.

In the all important demo of Adults 25-54, WAAF's Morning Show has a 5.6 share while O&A are way behind WAAF with only a 3.6 (which is down from 4.1 the month before). Finally, WAAF's morning show continues to be one of the top two morning shows among the adult Men in Boston, bested only by Sports Radio WEEI.

It could be because you have a piece of crap radio/antenna

Technically, I don't think that's true...most translators are very low-powered and are lucky to cover a small city. (The 97.9 translator of Dover,NH's WOKQ-FM in Manchester, NH is an example). WKAF is a full-service station that through corporate shenanigans is essentially a City of Boston plus a few neighboring communities outlet.

Good point however the signal is no different than WILD's was... i believe. I can WKAF clear as day in Taunton and Brockton.

On the Radio & Records ratings site, it says only WAAF-FM. But, maybe you're viewing a different site.

As far as I know, it's a violation of copyright laws to post ratings numbers and relative rankings of stations on this site (or anywhere on the internet other than the sites officially authorized to post them). You may be risking getting this site fined, or having other legal action taken against it.
