WKAJ Report

Actually not a whole lot to report. WKAJ recently had their CP reinstated, thanx to Senator Schumer.
I travelled thru the Mohawk Valley today and stopped by the St. Johnsville site. Not much has changed. Wooden fencing around each phasor hut is now in place. All 4 phasor huts and xmitter building are now painted basic grey. And exposed ground radial wires are still visible, but appear to have been driven over many times. That's all sportsfans.

Those exposed ground radials is a result of previous on site vandalism. Careful...people are watching the site for unauthorized people entering the property.

Stay tuned to 1120-AM. More is about to come.

It's on the air. Pretty weak at my location, almost 50 mi west. Playing oldies format with some noticeable crackling on the audio

Tried to hear it about 5:30 or so and heard nothing, must in test, and on the air intermittently. I am about 35 miles east of the TX site. Notice Al that the directional pattern pulls in the east and west where the 2 of us are situated, so it may appear to be weak.

The station came back on for a while around 4PM and at that time was simulcasting a Classic Hits format with WCSS-1490. I'm too far out to receive WCSS over the air but can access the streaming audio via the internet. WKAJ audio sounded good.

From what I've read on the Fybush report the signal will be tightly directional South to North(Catskills to Adirondacks) and away from population centers. It's a shame if we can't get them in Albany County(Latham) especially with the region recently losing a Oldies format(WPTR-Schenectady) and the other Oldies station in town having the most redundant playlist ever.
All the more reason to buy a internet clock radio(I recommend Grace Mondo) and enjoy the great Oldies and other format sticks on markets outside the Capital District.
