WKBE FM Flipping

I was listening to Kevin Richards this morning on WKBE’s “Big Country 107.1” where it used to be called where he hosted the “Classic Country Hall of Fame”, but around 7:10 AM this morning, the station went dead air where he was going to play a song by Charley Pride called “Does My Ring Hurt My Finger”, and all I do hear is nothing. I guess “Big Country 107.1” finally pulled the plug. No final sign-off, or anything at all. I heard the announcement that “Big Country” is moving to 97.9 as of right now. I checked on TuneIn app and all I checked is “Fox Sports 97.9” and there is no streaming at all.

What’s go to happen after that, I decided to listen to Bob O on WGNY-FM’s “Fox Oldies” and it sounds better, but it now plays straight oldies instead of country music, but you’ll hear some classic country elements thrown in during the show. I enjoyed listening to Bob O a lot than listening to Kevin Richards. Let’s hope if Kevin Richards will return eventually on the new 97.9.

And like I said, there is no streaming on the new “Big Country 97.9” at the moment, but we’ll have to wait and see.

And now, after 2 1/2 hours of dead air, WKBE is back on the air as of 10AM with Johnny Horton’s “Battle of New Orleans”, and after that, the station went jockless all weekend with a series of promos regarding that “‘Big Country’ is moving to 97.9”. If you go to the “Big Country” website, you’ll see what it looks like. I hope “107.1 The Point” should be updating with the new “Big Country 97.9” logo instead.

I think they maybe flipping to CHR. It says now playing: Hit Music Now.

If you see it's probably returning to the Point Branding.

Or if you go to this link, it redirects to a “Big 97.9” main website. As you probably know by now, “Big 97.9” is a country station based in Colorado as an iHeart station as KXBG. No word on what they are going to do with the website.

I just heard that WKBE flipped to country where it is simulcasting WKLI’s “The Cat” at 100.9 as of today.

I went to the new “Big Country 97.9” website and I clicked the “Listen Live” button, and all I hear is simulcasting “The Cat” from 100.9. No word on what they’re going to stream on 97.9. I enjoyed Kevin Richards with the “Classic Country Hall of Fame” for the last 6 or so years on both WROW’s “Magic 590/100.5” and on WKBE’s former “Big Country 107.1”, and now he done with it. And now, my all-time favorite, Bob O is now taking over Saturday mornings on WGNY-FM’s “Fox Oldies”, and it’s going to replace Kevin Richards with the “Classic Country Hall Of Fame”, and he will be playing oldies instead of country. Good move! I missed playing classic country music the way it sounded back in the days of WHN and WYNY when it was a country station in New York City. If you want to hear some more classic country music, there’s other stations to choose from.

I went to the TuneIn app but it still says “Fox Sports Radio 1230” and it says “This station is not currently available”. So that means that the new “Big Country 97.9” is not streaming. I hope maybe this new station on 97.9 will be streaming in the future. But for now, “Big Country” is streaming a simulcast of WKLI’s “The Cat” from 100.9 where it is now carrying on 107.1.

As of now, “Big Country” now on 97.9 finally has streaming. That means I’m going to Kevin Richards with the “Classic Country Hall of Fame” this weekend instead of Bob O. I’ll change my mind. The link is down below.

And speaking of 107.1, I was listening to Kevin Richards during the “Classic Country Hall of Fame” show, they were still using the old WKBE’s “Big Country 107.1” liners which is now being carried on 97.9. WTF??? “Big Country” is no longer on 107.1 after the move since March, it’s now “The Cat”. I hope maybe they to update the new liners for the “Classic Country Hall of Fame” show on 97.9, and WKBE is no longer as “Big Country” after the move, it’s WMML.
