WKBF sells for 150K to a new religious broadcaster

There is an article about this at the qc times at
http://www.qctimes.com/articles/2006/10/20/news/business/doc4538500780568379920871.txt

FCC application is at

Wow not much value to a radio station anymore is there? To think this is probably the strongest
regional AM signal from the quad cities. And after this sale most likely still only 2 commercial broadcasters
serving the area. Oh well back to the internet streams.

Based on this price you got to figure the whole clear channel cluster of six stations is worth about 1 million. Prices are really dropping.

Generally speaking, AM stations have little value. High power FM stations are still very expensive.

A proud and glorious history ends with a $150K whimper. When I worked at 'HBF radio in the 70s we had a seven-person radio-only news department....augmented by the Channel 4 news team and whatever got schlepped in from up the street at the Rock Island Argus. On top of that, we had two mobile news cruisers.

At one point we won a Sigma Delta Chi national award for our on-the spot coverage of a grain elevator explosion in Davenport.

(No "Croonerville", however).
