WKBQ Covington has flipped to country

I'm not sure when they flipped exactly but they are now country as "US-51 Country 93.5" with Rick and Bubba in the morning.

Monday, Feb 5th.
LMA to Thomas Media (Stations in Jackson)
New equipment, studios, etc.
Going for KIX listeners up and down "51" from Millington to Ripley.

(At least that's my guess)

That's up in your neck of the woods isn't it Meepster?

It is. In fact, I got a prelude when we talked to them about advertising for my real business over there.
Naturally, my radio background came in to play (as it does quite often when I'm buying advertisement).
I forgot to listen to what they stunted with before the change over.
What I heard of that "Rick and Bubba" thing wasn't bad. It seems as if I've seen part of that morning show on TV, or someone told me they did it or something. I didn't get to listen long-but it seemed okay.
Some guy Bill Thomas knew or worked with from stations he has/had in Alabama is doing afternoons and is PD.
Haven't heard him.

Rick & Bubba's morning show used to be simulcast on the late, lamented Turner South cable network. They recently switched from an AC outlet in B'ham to a country station, IIRC...

I loved Rick and Bubba when I lived in Alabama around 96-97... they were on Q104 Anniston (before WQEN moved into Birminham)...it was a much different show than what they do now... I enjoyed them much more back then... Rick and Bubba where on 1210 here for a short while also
