WKBW/WWKB aircheck Friday 02/03/06

This is a long distance reception of WKBW/WWKB 1520AM located in
Buffalo, NY from Friday, February 3, 2006. This is three days
before they dumped their great oldies format and went to a talk
format.

This aircheck is almost three hours long and has a lot of
music from Buddy Holly and Richie Valens because it was the
anniversary of their death in 1959 along with Jiles Perry
Richardson, also known as the Big Bopper.

There are a few signal fades, but they don't last long.

Thanks for posting this, I'm listening to it now and just wanted to say thanks.

There have been soooo many great AM's that played music in the past which are now in radio heaven.....the station I miss the most is CFTR from Toronto which was a great top 40 station in the 70's and 80's.....Some others that come to mind....GR 55 from Buffalo, WLS/WCFL from Chicago and KHJ from L.A..

I really got into CFTR and CHOG from Toronto in the early 90's. Great Energy and loved hearing the canadian product before it broke big in the U.S.

You're welcome. I'm glad you're enjoying it.

I'm depressed again, but thanks for posting that. I'm currently writing a book on a 1959 one hit wonder Sun Records artist, whose song broke on WKBW. Dick Biondi was the first to play it.

My other favorite stations were CFTR as well, WLS, and WTAE in my hometown of Pittsburgh.

It doesn't have to be this way with AM's. But no one will listen to ideas.
