I's "go to school" on this one if I was in the area. May watch it as best I can from a distance.

More important than the number of cow-patties per square mile there may be around Crittenden... take a look at the "who" is doing this. Take a look at the rather substantial on-line presence this applicant has already built. This station alone could easily be a waste of electricity. Coupled with another station on the other side of the market and with a good plan to lean on the on-line footprint, something worth watching could actually happen here.

But will anyone hear it? When you are nulling toward your populated areas, kinda makes it a futile effort does it not? And if you are gonna "lean" on your online presence, why bother with transmitters and towers?

I see it as a "mind game" that serves all parties until time passes and we all settle in on a new "normal".

Having and FCC license and call letters give some people in the audience, some people in the financial support community, and the station operator a feeling of.... of.... LEGITIMACY. "I am an actual radio station. That other stream you asked about is just some kid with a computer in his bedroom!"

I maintain that having some kind of physical, visible studio facility that people can drive by and say to guests they are taking on a tour of the town: There is our radio station. Yes, I understand some very successful stations are operating from places we cannot locate. I understand that some LPFMs and NCEs are stashed in the closet of the guest bedroom at someone's house. And I also understand that some of those people cannot figure out why they can't gain any traction.

It's a concept kin to the question: why do you put on a jacket and tie when you go out to represent your station? Why not just wear a black sweater and dungarees like Steve Jobs. And some people do that when they go out to represent their radio station. It is all part of the image you may or may not need to project.

Let me see, who will hear it?

60 dBu = 90,000
54 dBu = 190,000
51 dBu = 325,000

That's our point. There is essentially nobody within the city grade contour of this station, and all the people in 54-51 dbu land can get all the Cincy stations on their clock radios and Walkmans.

You'll need some very compelling programming to make 2% of those 325k listen.
