WKDD - Not ANOTHER one!

Back to CHR? By the looks of their playlist, they are Adult CHR during the day and CHR at night. Last time I followed them, they were VERY Hot AC sounding playing lots of 90s and almost no CHR-sounding tracks. Is it me or do they change formats and identity every 6 months? I like the sound, but consistency is key. Anybody know when this took place?

Very interesting. You're right, they're playing Nicki Minaj, Drake/Rihanna, Flo Rida, etc. Quite the change from the ULTRA-ultra-conservative Hot AC Premium Choice offering of the past few months.

Question is, does Akron really need 2 CHR's? Especially with WAKS heavily outperforming WKDD even when it's targeting Cleveland 100%? Guess there's nothing to lose? I'm sure they bill okay, but those ratings are not good. Not where they should be at all.

This might be a last ditch effort to save 'KDD. Great point about consistency, they need to see this through..or could 98.1 WHLO be down the pike?

As far as I know, KDD takes the Clear Channel Premium Choice Hot AC/Adult Top 40 feed. So whatever is played on that is what is played on KDD, none of the music programming is done in house anymore.

Last night did appear to look Premium Choice. Overnights sounded like Hot AC Premium Choice, but definitely not all day.

Is that why they dumped their 90s weekends some time back? I used to listen to it on I Heart Radio and enjoyed it.

The 80s and 90s are over? Someone better inform the Lake because they are the most listened to station in the market. Someone also better inform WMJI the 70s and 60s are over as well because they are listened too a lot as well. This garbage that passes itself as music today won't have the same lasting effect 30 years from now. Most kids today hate this music.

Keith, very grateful you have the passion you do for WKDD. The once legendary Barnstable station is still in good hands with you, keep up the great work.

Honestly, sad to see how much WKDD has been disassembled from those Barnstable days. They ran a great radio station and a tight ship. WKDD from 1998 that we all loved is no longer and will never return only due to Clear Channel, nothing Keith has done.

A potential side benefit of the recent changes is to shave a tiny bit of listenership away from Q104 in the Cleveland market.

Speaking of WKDD, can this station be heard in the Cleveland metro very well or not?

Since making its site move to the WCUE 1150 site (same location where the old WKDD 96.5 was before moving north into the Cleveland market), 98.1 is quite potent in most of Cleveland, though it's still targeting Akron.

and if you work for Clear Channel these days you never know if your job is safe from day to day as well. WTAM decided to dump a bunch of part timers now. Clear Channel now and forever the reason radio died.
