WKDD on new tower?

I even picked up "98.1 - The New KDD" loud and clear on my car radio, while driving into downtown Cleveland this past afternoon. It was as strong a signal as the old 96.5 signal (which, of course, was pre-2001 move to the WTAM tower in Brecksville).

Quite frankly, this is an even better signal that I thought was possible. I presume the only real weak point, obviously, is at WNCX's tower.

The problem now is..more people can hear how bad this station is..and turn it off! You would think with a stronger signal in their ADI they would at least try to deliver a better product. I don't care who can hear it..or where..WKDD is still very BAD!

They've made some definite music adjustments in the last few days. More 90's and even some 80's in the playlist.

That's the License to Cover filed on the WKDD Bellaire Lane CP, accepted by the FCC on Wednesday of this week.

The FCC records show:

1) Hartville as the license site
2) Louisville is indeed listed as the aux site
3) Bellaire Lane is a CP, and presumably will replace Hartville in the first position shortly.

And from the cover:

"LICENSEE WILL CEASE USE OF BXMLH-20020321AAB."

That's this:

...which is the app to convert Louisville from primary to aux facility when they got the CP for Hartville.

In that app, they asked for the cancellation of their PREVIOUS aux site. Wonder if they'll do the same for a Louisville to Hartville move for the Aux, making that hop north? It's too late to ask these questions. :D

I checked, and the information I had a ways back was that it is indeed a new tower. But that could be wrong.

The former 96.5 tower had been there since 1974 and was not structurally sound for both the main and aux antenna, and stl dishes etc. They rebuilt the site and remodeled the existing building. You could eat off the floor in there in you wanted.

Talked with my CC engineering friends. This is indeed a new tower, the old 96.5 Bellaire tower was dropped late last year (did anyone get video of that?) and a new tower was stacked this spring. The new tower is exactly the same hieght as the old one but has a much larger face to support the new antenna the base of the tower is at the exact same location as as the old one, they demo'd the old tower base to put the new one up. Was also told they made some much needed building renovations of the old 96.5 building with new air conditioning, electrical, and generator. The engineers from CC Cleveland did the project, the install is probably top notch and very functional.

I hear the HD performance from the new facility may be better than expected, and a decent setup could well be getting HD as far north as near downtown Cleveland.

I don't know if they've boosted the IBOC carrier.

this makes me understand why the antenna was moved to hear wkdd better. wkdd is now going to be like the old mix 106.5 and the new 106.5 the lake. maybe this way wmvx changed format so you know wont have 2 hot ac stations own by clear channel in the cleveland akron caton area. i was listen to wrqk 106.9 it just rocks. wow! i like it alot more than wmms. hot talk on a rock station ruined the station. i do not like to listen to news talk radio.
