WKDD technical difficulties??

Noticed this on WKDD's website:

Technical Difficulties: The over the air signal of WKDD is currently experiencing some technical difficulties. We are working on the issue and hope to have it resolved soon. Click Here to Listen live online

Are they off the air? I noticed when I was in town for the holidays a very pronounced white noise in the background any time my radio was on 98.1

Speaking of CC, Daune Robinson sounds awful on WMVX. Do they really have just one jock on for middays and afternoon drive? Was it that hard to pay a voicetracker from Seattle to handle the midday show?
She's also on 101.7 in Canton at the same time. Perhaps 101.7 will just have Brice Louis take over that role. It seems to make sense, he has alot of name recognition in the market.

WKDD is a mess. Keith Kennedy couldn't manage his way out of a Burger King bag.

They may not have a CE at the moment. I saw a job posting the other day that they are looking for one. Still, I'd imagine the boys from Cleveland or another nearby market would lend a hand.

Edit: Its on the air the signal is clean, I dont notice anything to be wrong.

As the former CE of 5-station CC Akron/Canton Cluster, which includes WKDD (I just started my new position at a competing Cleveland Cluster) yes, they are currently in search of a new CE. With respect to the 'off air' incident, Murphey's law had a play in the Main STL transmitter rolling over and dying on my second last day of work (last Friday morning) forcing us to the 'backup' STL link which is prone to occasional 'burps', due to a very sporadic and undetermined source of TI or RFI on that systems frequency. Immediate repair was not possible on the dead STL Transmitter, with details I won't bore you with at the moment.

Part II of Murphey's law dictated that the backup STL would be fine for a while, and we hoped until the main unit could be returned from factory repair, but it decided to go into 'hyper-burp' the first day of me starting my new job in Cleveland, and in fact started right about the time I turned on the radio on my way to the new job, after just starting my vehicle with the dial still on 98.1! I immediately contacted Keith Kennedy as a courtesy to go over some ideas to help him get a quick resolve, and with him not being an engineer he got a handle and plan of action to resolve the issue fairly quickly under difficult circumstances. My later conversation with Keith indicated the fix made with a retuned STL provided by the quick work of the Cleveland CC Engineering staff. That's the abbrieviated story for anyone interested.

BTW, in working with Keith for over the past year+ while I was CE for the Akron/Canton Cluster, I can say the comments about Keith not being able to manage or whatever are unwarrented by someone either disgruntled or clueless. I have seen first hand how much time and effort Keith puts into the 5-station operation, in particular with a lot of turnover and changes over the past several months. He is in the minority of people that could still continue to do an effective job with the work load and responsibility and not say the heck with it all.

That observation comes directly from a co-worker, in the radio broadcast field for over 25 years who has seen his share of Program and Ops Managers that are in fact clueless. A friend of mine emailed me the link to this 'discussion' and normally I would just let it go, but had to chime in on this one. Not necessarily to explain the technical, but because it really gets under my skin when someone posts about one thing, and someone else has to 'connect the dots' to another issue or individual that has nothing to do with the incident. I just don't like when people post comments because they want to knock someone they don't like for whatever reason, or have an axe to grind. FWIW.

John: I have never been in the business but I can judging by your comments that you are a good man.

I have never met Keith Kennedy, I have never heard anybody with the guts to reveal who they were badmouth him either.

Well, at least he can keep a job. Unlike you, given the tone of your post. But hey, speaking of BK, they're always accepting applications, so I hear.

Not surprised another person "bounced to the berm" from Canton comes running to this board, creates an account, to take their only swipe. Grow up.

Keith is a good guy. He does the best with the tools he is given. He works very hard, and the signal crapping the bed is no reflection on his management ability.
