WKDF Mornings

Where do you think WKDF will go with mornings now that David Reed is out? Will it be a one woman show, will they hire a new male co-host? What are your thoughts?

She carried a show alone in Atlanta, but I agree, can't take the solo act. Maybe just can't take it in the morning. Nothing personal, just business.

May not have to wait too long. I'm told an announcement is coming next week.

There will be a new male co-host. His name is M---y Mc--y.

If Wylie carries the morning show herself, maybe it will start a trend. Gerry House will do his show alone, then Kim Leslie will be by herself, and so on. Corporate Radio will think they're saving more money, and for a while it will seem that way. I mean, no one thought automation would catch on... the lack of personality and local feel that radio was famous for. That's gone. So why continue with morning teams? Change with the times.

In a related story, the United States Constitution is due for a complete overhaul.

...amd KDF will slip deeper into oblivion. How many times has this bait and switch scenerio NOT worked. Hand the damn license over to Dumulus. THEY could do better. Top three best signal in Nashville. Underperforming for a decade. And people scratch their heads and think radio stocks are a good investment because they're averaging $1.15 a share.

"There will be a new male co-host. His name is M---y Mc--y."

If that's who I'm thinking of I may have to listen...I enjoyed listening for years when he was on another station who's signal covered parts of town. However, I hate to talk bad about anyone, but I just can't listen to the sound of Wiley's voice that early in the morning. Tone it down a notch.

Per Tibbs2:

Star 97 (*ahem*, the New Star 97 - because they changed the format every 6 months and ultimately were perpetually "new") did fairly well as an All 80's station. Not sure how long that would have lasted had they stayed committed to that format longer... but when Tibbs2 called them "Dumulus", it was quite fitting. They let one of their "star" employees go, one who loved radio, lots of experience, was dedicated, a team player, and always did what he was asked of the company. They've been on a downward slide ever since. Would they have enough sense to realize keeping good people would help them win? Of course not. Because to them, the only "good" people are the ones with Dickey (it's so tempting to leave the "ey" off) attached to their names. With the semi-success of at least one of their other stations, they could come to some conclusions of what to do with RQQ and NFN. Or they could let a monkey program them (after all, a monkey can push buttons). Maybe that's what they're doing.

Wylie did nights in Atlanta by herself I think. Lord knows she talked about ATL on the air more than Nashville. I think she demonstrated that she can't do a show by herself here. She comes across as a preaching and self absorbed, not a likable person. That show needed a likable reasonable personality to offset her.

David Reed is a good man, and a super hard worker. There's nothing he can't do at a station, I hope one bad experience doesn't discourage him, he can make a station better. I can hear him mid-days on the Wolf, or at producing over at WTN. That show wasn't the best in town, but IMHO he wasn't the problem.

And, isn't Marty's wife a sales person over there, how's that not a conflict?

Who is David Reed? Never heard of him. You're right the woman on there is unlistenable. She's got one of those Minnesoty/Canadiany kinda shrill voices like Sarah Palin...you betchy...eh Drill Baby Drill

He started as an intern at Titans Radio, we was the producer there for several seasons, I think he did play by play for MTSU in the past too. He used to work in tv some.

You probably never heard of him because she never let him talk.

You can go ahead and spell out the name. If KDF is hiring nobody has probably ever heard of him anyway. They got about as much money to spend as a Sirius penny stockholder.

ahh...the amazing "Mr. Positive" strikes again.
pop quiz, spew...do you even own a radio? you certainly don't know anything about it...

I get the impression only one person posting on this topic doesn't know who M---- M---- is. It seems most of us do. In my opinion he has a great show and act (at least did on his last station). I've often wondered why more of that station's talent hasn't been gobbled up by Nashville stations.

As have I. The DJs seem to have a giant amount of fun over there. I miss fun on local music radio, especially in afternoon slots.

So WHO will take the lead? SURE hope it's -ar-- -fl- !

I'll admit it, THOSE missing letters through me off for just a second...

It is time For WKDF to change the call letters. They are ruining the reputation of a legendary broadcast property.
