Let me ask this. With the Rock leading the pack, and with the Rock's Big Boss about to head to greener pastures, don't you think KDF should flip to Classic Rock or something like that? Why be the number 3 country station when you could flip to your roots and get a free buzz going?
Edited by Alpha00z on 08/27/05 03:24 AM.

But then they would be the 3rd rock station! I think they need to retool there morning show and get that KDF attitude back.WSM will fall back after the new music mix wears out. WSIX will drop some whenever Gerry is gone. So KDF has a chance.

When is Gerry leaving? When will the new mix wear off? He hasn't left, doesn't appear ready too and the numbers for WSM are solid. KDF should have been the station that went Jack. The programmers and management at Citidel sit on their hands too much. They've made one good move in the last three years. Getting Plaster from WTN, but they haven't benefited from that move as much as they could because of the programming the rest of the day.

No. WKDF can make a TON more money being the 2nd or 3rd country station than they could being #2 or #3 playing Rock. Ain't even close.

As long as 'KDF is making plenty of money, they'd be foolish to switch to a rock format. And they've been country long enough that their "roots" are forgotten by many, and not known to the many people in the KDF age demographic who have moved to this area since the change.

I agree with the Evangelist......As bad as I hate to admit it, KDF would be crazy to go to any format that resembles Rock/alternative right now. Being #3 in country may not taste real good right now, but it beats taking a ratings cut by trying something else. Bottom line is that KDF makes $$$ with country on the 103.3 frequency. Period. Until that changes, nothing will change at KDF.

I agree. People keep telling me they think WKDF will return to rock music, but I have to remind them that there is absolutely no format move for 103.3 that would earn them more listeners and more revenue than they have right now.
______________
