WKDJ 96.5 Clarksdale

I was riding through the Clarksdale area a couple of weeks ago. When did WKDJ change from country to satellited hot AC? They were country for years. They now go by the name Mix 96.<P ID="signature">______________

I noticed that too Memorial Day weekend.... I think they are co-owned with Magic 107.5, so I am guessing that the flip is filling the void from when they flipped the bigger signal to country about a year ago.

Yes, WKDJ and WMJW are co-owned. WMJW is targeted more to Cleveland, but since they also have a good signal in Clarksdale, the decided it wasn't prudent to have two country stations in Clarksdale. WKDJ flipped to ABC Hot AC, which interestingly enough, was one of the many previous formats on WMJW.

Yes, we switched WKDJ from Country Coast-to-Coast to the ABC Hot A/C format. No need to have 2 Country stations in the (more or less) same market. Also, there was a huge hole for the Hot A/C format...so we're on it.
