103.9 (WPPZ) is not on One Liberty Place, 107.9 (WPHI) is.
Sorry, meant 107.9, licenced to Pennsauken. 107.9 used to be WPPZ. It seems like R1 has played musical chairs on all 3 frequencies since they took Y-100 away.

WPPZ was always at 103.9. 107.9 had been WRNB, which is now at 100.3, where WPHI used to be.

I believe that WPHI was at 103.9 after WDRE. WPHI moved after Y-100 was killed. So WPHI has been on all 3 so far.

Radio one should put either WDRE or Y-100 back. It'd do so much better then them battling the famous Philly stattions like WUSL and WDAS.

They got rid of Y-100 because their highest billing day part (like most) Morning crew of Preston and Steve went to WMMR.

That and Radio One wasn't even remotely interested in running a rock station. They only kept it around cause it was making them money. Once Preston & Steve left the writing was on the wall that Y-100's days were numbered.

They could still bill much better then PHI, and maybe even WRNB.

WMMR Aux (PSFS) is now 25,000 watts, main is 16,500 watts (One Liberty)

WKDN's Main will be on One Liberty, they surely aren't spending a couple of
hundred thousand dollars building it, and $ 20,000 a month or so for rental
on One Liberty for an Aux site. Once Camden is deleted, One Liberty's
power can come up. The difference between 9000 watts and 16,500 watts
won't be noticeable anyway. FM stations can typically go to 1/2 power
without listeners hearing a difference.

I predict the Camden site will be gone in 6 months.
If this happens, would Merlin ask the FCC for more power on top of One Liberty Place? Would some sort of transmitter be kept in Camden for a backup at the old WKDN site the way WMMR left their old transmitter on the PSFS bldg for a backup?

I don't have any inside info here ... but this is typically the way the FCC works.

You can apply for an "auxiliary license" and have it granted very quickly,
the key is you can't ask for a signal that will exceed your main site.

Now that you're on the air with it, you can apply for an increase to the full
power level allowed for your license class, which in this case, will be about
what WMMR has, maybe a little more because it's lower. NOW .... if they are
short spaced and can't work it out with other stations involved on the same
and co-channels, they may have to go directional and create a null in one
or more directions, or settle for another power level, but I seriously doubt
it will stay at 9000. Once the "aux" is worked out, you can apply to make
it the main if it meets all of the requirements. It's possible they would keep
Camden as an aux or main if the signal is better. I haven't listened to WKDN
in the areas that are important to the new owners. Posters on here claim
the signal either stinks or is great. All I can say is it was running full power,
but low average modulation, since they weren't a competitive station, the
audio was fine for them, they weren't trying to be louder than anyone, so
the old technology processing was good enough.

WKDN is on with Shawn Hannity all the time. Also running great audio clips from old WFIL news and old commercials. By the way it's in mono signal an old WWDB trick. The mono signal will travel better than a stereo signal, I think?

WKDN's signal was pretty good. It could be heard from New Brunswick, NJ (and would have been heard further north if it weren't for IBUZ from WLTW) all the way to Havre De Grace, MD.
