WKFB 770

Is WKFB 770 also on 97.5 Monroeville now? What are they Programing when 770 Signs Off? I Heard Rumors Suzie Q was asked to do a show on 620.

I do not know about the Suzie Q rumor but WKFB is not using 97.5 as of yet. As of yesterday it still was running K-Love and there is no word as to when it will become 'KFB-FM. From Friday's McKeesport Daily News ...

“We're not using it at the moment but we will be using it very soon," (owner Robert) Stevens said. He did not know how he would extend WKFB's schedule into the night, as much of the day is leased to local businessman Frank W. Dittig, known on the air as oldies deejay Frankie Day.

Frankie stated Wed. morning to listen on Friday for "Big News" About the Frankie Day oldies Show. It's Going to be Bigger and Stronger. Could he Be Talking about the FM Translator?

Maybe the wanna be Dj is finally going to call it quits!?!?! I hope so.. Useless waste of life.

Harsh no... He is a clown. Thats the bottom name. You can not call him a DJ.

Mr. Keynote (or is it Ms. Keynote), who registered for this board only yesterday, has made four posts
so far, three of them highly critical of Frankie Day. To suggest that someone isn't a very good on-air
personality is an opinion. To suggest that someone is a "useless waste of life" implies a poster with a
personal axe to grind.

Frankie Day is not a DJ by profession (he and his family own a very successful office-supply business)
but he has managed to turn his time on 770 KFB into a positive sideline and has a small but very loyal
audience. Yes, he pays for the time. So do the oldies hosts on WEDO, and so did Terry Lee when he
was on WJAS.

770 KFB was recently named the #2 AM Oldies station in the nation by the readers of Radio-Info, and
the credit for that honor rests squarely on the shoulders of Frankie Day. I have said many times that
KFB would not be doing what it does today without the efforts of Frankie and others, and I suspect a
few people may harbor jealousy over Frankie's recent rise to prominence.

Personal invective is unnecessary (and probably against the board TOS). If you don't like Frankie Day
then change the station! That's what the buttons on your radio are for.

Frankie Day is a devoted Family Man, Moral Bussiness Man And a Very caring Person. [Stating from Personal Experince]. He never said he Started the oldies, He Plays a mix of music not heard on the radio in a long time. He Gives Local artists Free air time, Promotes Many Charitable Events. And is very Enthuastic about what he does.

I was under the impression that Key was referring to the young DJ and not Mr. Day.

No, if you look at keynote9's other posts he is being an a-hole towards Frankie Day, saying since he buys time he isn't a "real" DJ.

I find what Frankie Day is doing amazing. His energy, and amount of sponsors he has is incredible. What he's doing on air locally and what Phil Lenz is doing online, are just well done. Congrats to both of them.

I put 770 on my presets in Pittsburgh. I think Frankie Day is doing a good show and sounds like a real DJ to me . He catches the feel of early rock'n'roll radio on AM daytimers. I think the criticism is unwarranted. Get in your near-by time capsule and go back to WVOK in Birmingham ALA. and then tell me Frankie ain't doin it right.

An auto accident on Saturday morning not only knocked both of our AM stations off the air, but it also
caused a power surge at the transmitter that fried some equipment. 620 is back on the air at reduced
power; 770 is off for the duration until parts are replaced. That could be as early as tomorrow or Wed.
morning. Bear with us -- we're working on it!
