WKGX, Lenoir Flips

AM 1080, WKGX Lenoir, has switched from Classic Country to Sports Talk. If they cover any type of events, it will have to be during the day as this is a daytime-only station.
I'm very upset with this change, as I know some folks at this station that put some work into the Classic Country format, called "Country Legends Radio". They played the clasics that made you go, "hmm, I haven't heard that in years. It's a great song."

I just tuned them in today (Thursday, August 11). Their audio is down quite a bit since leaving the music behind. They used to be loud up here in Spruce Pine...now you have to turn up the radio to hear them well. They'd better crank the modulation up some if they want outlying areas to listen (and I would think they would, since I, like you, don't think there's a big market for a daytime sports talker in Lenoir).

I don't think WKGX is running at a full 5kw, and hasn't for a few years now.
They've had transmitter problems, and like many AMs(esp daytimers)I don't think
the owner wants to spend much on it.
