WKIM Morning "Show"

P

Professor

Guest
Professor is perplexed...

No one has mentioned that trainwreck of a morning show on Kim, yet prattle goes on about KIM being heard in a few dentist offices.

Is it that Professor is wrong about how unlistenable this show is? Or, is it that the show is so bad no one feels the need to discuss it. No need to kick a dead horse...

Or, might it actually BE a good show? No. That can't be it.

I'm only been able to tune in and stomach the show once or twice, but as someone one put it before they need to go down to 'QOX and learn radio...then give it another shot...
"A" for effort- you have a former popular news personality, a medical doctor (?) teamed up with a radio person...
"F" for execution, flow, entertainment value and everything else associated with a successful morning show.....

> ... a medical doctor (?)...

That's an interesting point. I am married to an MD. And, Lord knows she hasn't got the time (nor inclination, frankly) for such a thing as a radio morning show. But, if this doc enjoys it, more power to her.

I have listened to the show a time or two. It's interesting. Conceptually, it runs counter to everything we were taught as pip-squeak jocks: forward momentum; single thought per break; have a plan when you open the mic, etc. Not that rules can't be broken -- the greats are "great" because they can. But, one must understand the rules before setting out to break them.

It's all about execution, as has been pointed out. Henry is a competent and affable guy. He'll work through it.

Why is Henry the producer? He is a well-known personality in the market as well as the PD of the station.

Please tell me he is not stuck running the board for the show!

Perhaps the Prof can explain what one has to do with the other? All of the numerous times I have heard KIM on in stores it's been middays or afternoons.

Has it occured [sic] to y'all that maybe you're NOT the target demo here? Just sayin'...

No. It hadn't.

I am not in the target demo for WLOK, yet I realize they are a fine radio station.

Yes, it has...at about the same time it occurred to me that the employees of the places I am hearing KIM are EXACTLY in the target demo.

Heyyyyyyy, lightened up...got an support or suggestions that don't cost me money?

Hello Mr. Nelson...

Welcome to the board....

Everything here is free of charge and come pretty much if you want it or not. Probably best to repeatedly refer to what sjs and radiosaur said earlier. I definitely agree with his statement. I don't think anything said here should be taken to personal. I will step out on a limb and say I think most people probably think your a great guy. I certainly do and we don't even know each other. I do listen to Kim outside of the AM Drive.

Being a male in my mid 30's I enjoy a great amount of the music on Kim. I feel I don't fit well with the station as I am not the main target of the station however. I would think that is intentional. Everyone knows which demo is a bigger spender.

Hey Mr. intro to broadcasting teacher i need a job...you gave carolyn one.... ;D

cant visit you at midnight at 100 when i come across the river anymore

Henry, I have a suggestion that won't cost you money. GET RID of the two anchors (as in lead weights) and do it yourself. You're certainly capable. At the very least, look for some alternative talent, FAST.

The morning show sounds like something slapped together by (VERY unpromising) "broadcast school" interns. It's about as entertaining as the sound of wood being sanded (and that's being optimistic). While the folks on this board can be a bit abrasive, at least they are telling you what listeners might not. Remember, listeners respond by just...not listening. You can't let this languish into a negative final conclusion that kicks you in the pants. You're the guy that is going to take the hit, not the talentless lackeys that are dragging you down.

You really need to take action asap. As Barney Fife always said, you gotta "NIP IT." Don't put it off.
