WKIX

Yea, alot of people on the board are taking themselves WAY too seriously! We need alot more humor! And yes, WKIX-AM Channel 85 can get a website! Hell, they are some places where you can set up a website for FREE or very little money!

I like the WKIX Tribute site! My late father worked 'across town' at the former 1240 WRNC (now Christian formatted WPJL) when he was going to NCSU in the late 60's. From my childhood, I remember stories about the old 'Channel 85'. I remember hearing that the running joke around WRNC was how they would 'say goodbye to Durham' at sunset, when they cut their power to 250 watts (while WKIX was booming into Durham with their 5kw night time power). I am really enjoying the old 'KIX airchecks!

...sorry...just realized the previous post should've gone to the other WKIX thread.

Maybe the NEW WKIX-AM Channel 85 could work out something with tribute site to advertise and stream the station there!

With the thread up and running about WKIX and their website...for all the oldtimers who used to listen to or work for WKIX in the 60's and 70's, try www.wkixrewound.com. A fun site with clips of old radio shows, KIX Countdowns, profiles of airstaff from the past, and other things from the good ol' days. Great stuff! It's a Blast from the Past. Stax of Wax and plenty of Platter Chatter from the Old Grooveyard! Some of us go back a ways.
From Bill Price...last worked at Country Legends 98.3. Still doing freelance VO.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all you guys and gals!

Do you know where Walker and Spooner are??? Need to know! APE

 They have BUICKS in Raleigh??? Wow, I HAVE been away a while! Is WKIX-FM still on? How about that rockin' WQDR? DO they still exist? (Please don't answer these, I'm just kiddin' around!) I added that disclaimer for those who use this board but forgot their sense of humor.

I'm going to have to visit the Raleigh Buick dealer and get me a new Buick, maybe a nice blue 4 door sedan. I've always enjoyed driving from Raleigh to Greensboro or Winston-Salem on I-40 in the left lane listening to WPTF while cruising at 40 mph. Where is the Buick dealer located? On Capital Boulevard? I just gotta get me a new Buick when I get my check next month.

Do they have Buicks in Raleigh? Why of course at Al Smith Buick! And you get Al Smith in the trunk of every one!!

Who says good advertising campaigns don't work? ;D

I believe they are on Wake Forest Road.

.... and I know where Spooner and Walker are but I ain't tellin'!

"When you buy a car from Al Smith Buick, you're gonna get Al Smith too! Oh yea! Al Smith Buick is the top dog in town!"

Who remembers the Sir Walter Chevrolet jingle?????

Well, my "Nose for News" called some old contacts and I have determined Spooner is in Atlanta and Tommy in Wilmington..

Al Smith is gone. The Buicks are at Thompson Cadillac now.

I guess they aren't advertising as well as they should be after all :D

I don't know where Russ is, but I think Tommy is "living happily ever after" with all the money he made on his WINFAS investment. He's a nice guy and he deserves it! And dittos to his partner in crime Roger Ingram. Nice guys don't always finish last. If I had their money I might say to heck with my plans for buying a new Buick and move up to an Escalade
