Does anyone know what became of Lee Gillette? Once 100.7 became "Classic Hits 100.7" in the fall of 1985, Lee disappeared. Was he local or voice-tracked from (one of) 'KKT's sister(s)? He had great pipes.Someone in a Facebook group that I subscribe to posted this aircheck of WKKT "The Kat", circa 1985.
I did not realize that they had actual DJ's, or played the wide variety that they did! They were the 4th Top 40 station in the market at the time.
Does anyone know what became of Lee Gillette?
Thanks, BigA, but I believe afternoon drive was his regular air shift; IOW, I don't think he was a fill-in. Sad that he passed away; he couldn't have been all that old. Here's his bio. It doesn't list WKKT, so he may have been fill-in. Apparently he was in Boston in 1985. The only talent listed for WKKT in 1985 is Frank Kingston Smith, who survived the stations switch to WZLX a couple of months later.

Oh, and one more thing: I wonder if WHTT was an error, since, up until September of 1985, he was definitely at WKKT.Here's his bio. It doesn't list WKKT, so he may have been fill-in. Back in 1977...WTTK was evolving to being more of a typical AOR station from its original Progressive Country incarnation of late 1976. They were actually live in some day parts and were in the process of going totally live when it was announced that the Plough stations in Boston were being sold. After that...It was automated AOR right through the end of 1978...Plough still owned 100.7 in '85, didn't they? I remember listening to "progressive country" WTTK there several years earlier. That station ran a buggy early automation system that was constantly playing program elements over one another.
