I know thers a Wisconsin board, but seems like the site is overall biased when it comes to urban, id rather post on the format boards for better interaction.
Anyways, Im so happy at the fall of V100 because I saw it coming. They've been doing everything wrong for years since Bailey Coleman was appointed to PD. Its time for a major shake up. From the early 2000s, WMIL and WKKV were usually tied back and forth in top ratings in the 414. Country vs Urban. Can't get any more classic than that!
With Doc Love as APD/MD and eventually succeeding Jamillah Muhamad as PD, the station had a strong Urban/Crunk sound, tite mixshows nightly and on the weekends. Numbers were extremely strong, trumping WXSS Kiss1037 in each book. Doc Love expanded the promotions budget and got them great vehicles and a trailer. There was a strong street presence.
Drastic changes, from losing the Doug Banks show and switching to the ever stupid decision of Urban AC morning show Sleepy Steve for AM drive, Jam 4 Peace going to the end of summer instead of the beginning of summer, to a generalized UAC playlist, cutting the night shift from 6-10 to 6-9 and then starting the Quiet Storm one hour earlier at 9, the station should have just became Urban AC period and dropped all hip hop.
Ratings are in the gutter, the lowest they've ever been! Its time for a new staff, a new focus, a new direction, a new brain. Less R&B worked for WKKV. The early 2000 numbers proved it. With WJMR skewing to more Jammin Oldies and the new WNOV simlucast as R&B, the market is in DIRE need of a true Urban. I would LOVE to see a competitor start up, if not with a local morning show, at least Rickey, Russ.
I've NEVER seen so much high ratings for WXSS, 3rd in 12+ and WKKV is in the gutter. SHOCKING. "V100.7 Blazin' R&B."
