WKLB 102.5 FM-TEST OF 10db IBOC INCRESE

Radio World said that WKLB will be one of the test stations to field test the 10db increase in IBOC power. It is intresting to note that there are no rim shoot stations either adjacent or alternate to KLB. ( pirates in Dorchester not withstanding.) A better test would have been WBOS 92.9 which has WXRV 92.5 in Haverhill and WSNE 93.3 in Taunton and IBOC which are alternate channel rim shots.
 
Well there is 102.3 WGTX out on the outer Cape in Truro, which has had a somewhat decent signal along the immediate coast (Duxbury, Plymouth, etc) since they raised their antenna height. I'm sure their coverage area will be reduced by this. Also 102.7 WRNI-FM has struggled to get into Providence since 102.5 has had IBOC, this will definitely put the nail in that coffin.

Yes, but WRNI-FM is simply a simulcast of WRNI 1290 AM, which is actually in Providence. Since the programming is mainly news/talk, it doesn't have to be in FM fidelity to be listened to (and for the few with HD radios, 1290 does run IBOC). So, it's not really necessary for WRNI-FM to get into Providence, and they don't promote it as such. It serves southern RI and the south coast, where an IBOC increase from WKLB won't affect it.
 
I wonder if they're already on with the stronger IBOC signal? I check WGTX just now for the first time since seeing this post, and it does seem to be a lot deeper in the mud than it had been.
