WKLO is now in Hardinsburg,IN on 96.9. Sadly, it's not using the calls like they were used back in the day...satellite delivered classic country.
Does anyone know how the calls got to Hardinsburg, IN? I can listen to this station, and enjoy it from time to time, but it will never be a Louisville station due to being on the same frequency as the Lexington/Paris station. In fact, I used to be able to pick up the other 96.9 at Corydon. I know this new KLO wants a broad coverage area, with their ID mentioning Hardinsburg, Corydon, and French Lick, and advertisers from Corydon to Washington and Bedford, IN!
Well it will never be a Louisville station because it's too far away. The 1 millivolt service contour just barely covers the northwest corner of Harrison county. It doesn't even make it to Corydon.

It looks to me like they snatched up the calls when WKLO in Danville went dark. It was effective on 8/16/2000. And a familiar name was involved in that: Keith Reising.
Is he part of the Reising's from Corydon? That's a great story on John Quincy's site about VEZ!

Near the beginning of this, someone mentioned that WKLO and WAKY battled each other in the 60's. Actually, WKLO pretty well whipped up on WAKY in the late 60's when WKLO was one of the greatest Top 40 stations anywhere at anytime, spawning some of the best talent that dominated radio in America during the 70's and later. You can check out the Original and Real WKLO at:

Enjoy. ;D
