Clear Channel Radio Appoints Buzz Casey
Program Director of WKLS-FM and Operations Manager of WBZY-FM
Atlanta, Georgia. August 24, 2005 – Clear Channel Radio today named Buzz Casey the new Program Director of WKLS-FM (96rock) and Operations Manager of WBZY-FM (the Buzz). In his new role, Casey will direct all programming and creative efforts for 96rock, while serving as the operations manager for the Buzz.
Buzz Casey joins the Atlanta stations from WNRQ (The Rock) in Nashville. In the most recent Arbitron book, Spring 2005, The Rock was #1 with Persons 12+ and led the Nashville market in every male and adult demographic. Casey brings additional experience working with Clear Channel Rock properties around the region, helping to develop success stories.
“I am thrilled to have someone of Buzz Casey’s caliber and pedigree joining us in Atlanta. He is a welcome asset to our team of programmers and creative talent,” said Mike Wheeler, Regional Vice President of Programming for Atlanta.
Commenting on the new position, Casey said, “I am so excited to join the Atlanta programming team. With The Regular Guys and The Atlanta Braves, I feel 96rock is on the move. The Buzz, our little brother down the hall, has a great team lead by Chris Williams. The Buzz is definitely the newest, hippest thing in Atlanta. ”
Buzz Casey’s appointment is effective September 19, 2005.

Well it looks like another "crack" hire for CC. It would be very interesting to find the excact origins of his nickname. He certainly did well in cities wtih no competition it will be fun to watch what he does in a much different market.
