That null of WLAV in the direction of Holland is indeed an unfortunate situation and is a function of very sloppy engineering, in my opinion. The signal there is far weaker than predicted (and allowable) strength. In fairness, it's been a couple years since I've last experienced that debacle first hand, so perhaps Cumulus has found a way to improve the situation since then.
A filing has been made with the FCC to relocate the allocation for the silent 97.5 MHz in Whitehall to 99.5 MHz. If that gets approved, perhaps WLAV will be able to modify its pattern a bit? I'm unsure.
As for WKLT, they wouldn't want the WLJW pattern, I suspect. The poster earlier said 95.9's signal strength isn't that great in downtown TC. 95.9 also has a substantial null toward Houghton Lake.
