Do you think WKLU will ever be able to upgrade their signal, I know they moved their stick once, but I actually think they are a pretty decent Oldies station, it beats listening to WCLS 97.7 for 60s and 70s tunes. WKLU's signal just sounds weak and muddy down in lower Morgan County. I dont like WJJK anymore since they skewed from being a true Variety hits Jack station and turned into a Q-95 wannabe, so I think WKLU flipping to oldies was a good idea, I do wish they would mix in some 80s cuts from time to time, and im thinking they probably will if they are around for the forseable future. I would like for WKLU to increase their power, or move their tx location to somewhere like Plainfield so I could get better reception here. I know they cant move their stick to somewhere like Greenwood, cause that would shortspace WKRQ in Cincinatti. Maybe I just need to move closer to the city. But then I couldnt listen to WBWB in Bloomington anymore.

WKLU has the most creative format in Indy. Let them buy a 50 KW XMTR, start using it and see what happens.

It would be nice if WKLU could buy WJJK and put oldies back on that frquency with that powerful signal. I doubt Russ has that kind of money though. I know what you guys mean though, Im technically not really supposed to get WKLU here anyway. I used to be able to DX Q-102 Cinci, back in the late 80s and early 90s, sometimes I could also pick up that Hot AC station from Owensboro ky. While I love to DX far away stations, we really needed the 101.9 frequency for local Indianapolis radio. Remember when 101.9 tried oldes years and years back, I couldnt pick up the signal here at all back when it was in Brownsburg. I can still start to pick up Q-102 Cincinatti between Shelbyville and Greensburg, so really, KLU isnt chewing off any of WKRQs target audience.

Wow what a full plate. I have been following 101.9 around since the days when they were WQFE on the Big ol' Band Wagon. Oh yes I used to listen to them alot when they were on Water Street in Brownsburg. Then the flipped formats and then locations and then call letters then moved into the old WFMS building on Knue Road. Recently they changed again which I'm not complaining because just so happens I love the Oldies format and relate to that music because I'm an old man now LOL. I won't comment about talent changes but I'm still listening because it is the only Indy based Oldies format currently playing on the FM. Before that I got my Oldies from WGLD Gold 104.5 FM which I miss dearly and could someone tell me what is the hell is Jack FM??? Was it worth the trade, I think not. When I'm in Indy I listen to several different stations from WKLU Oldies, WFMS Country, WFBQ Classic Rock to Hank FM. Right now I'm very confused with the Indy FM Radio scheme of things and all the changes that recently took place. Would somebody please slow this bus down just long enough for some of us to catch our breathe. Too much, too fast I just don't understand.

This topic has been addressed on MANY occasions on this board... WKLU is simply a WELL engineered Class A FM – I KNOW ‘cause I used to own one that pursued similar. One of the BEST radio engineers [Bob Hawkins] has come on this board to professionally dispel the personally-motivated attacks against Russ on this issue.

The current WKLU signal is the result of a 2005 upgrade – an era that provided the very-best available technology for lower-powered FM participants... WKLU is simply [and LEGALLY] participating in that technology!

I can see the tower every time I look west from WBDG's studios and I wish that we had it...LOL. It's a little bigger than our 78-foot one.

I was suprised to find out they are live. They sound so canned, it appears they could use a good programer and unrestrain their air people. But, they sound so much cleaner than they ever did on Green street. That owner must have one heck of an ego. I have heard him on the air on several occasions.

I think the format is designed that way on purpose... slick, produced, music-driven. Just a hunch, but it does harken back to the days of yore, or in the case, Oldies stations from years gone by. Like it or not, I don't think it's being done incorrectly or poorly. It's just a matter of whether you like it or not. I gather that many of you on this site do not. To each his own... personally, I'd rather listen to Jennie DeVoe or other local musicians. Where's THAT radio station?

For a while you could hear Jennie DeVoe doing voice work on spots running on every station in Indy. Either her voice was over used or she was tired of doing it. You don't hear her on spots much now.
