Couple of questions. I've been listening to Jack a lot since the flip but can anyone tell me if Kevin Spencer is still working there? I really enjoyed listening to him during mid days but I dont hear him any more when I flip over. Also I heard something about the 60s at 6? Does this mean the Ultimate Top 10s are now over? Old Skool or Real Insider can you please clarify?

Not to be overly picky because I really am trying to give the station a chance but I just dont get it. Today taking my kids out I heard Jackson Browne Running on Empty. I was 13 years old and went with my big brother to see that tour in 78. I by no means call that "Oldies" They used to play that song all the time under the old format. So was it Classic Rock then and Oldies now? It just seems like they are playing the same stuff as before but are trying to brand it with a new name and assume we listeners are not dumb enough to know the difference. If you are going to be Oldies then be Oldies. And why cant any WKLU employees (since they all post on here) get on and let me know what happened to Kevin Spencer?

if it was only playing the same stuff and branding it again I would probally still like it .it is a whole new sound.some songs overlap but it is a diffrent sound. before oldies 101.9 they wouldn`t have played songs like "sugar, sugar" by the archies.
wklu HD2 is available on line and it is much more listenable.closer to its old sound.

Kevin Spencer is out. When the station first flipped he was moved to nights, the story gets little cloudy as to did he fired? or did he quit ?
As for the format name "Oldies" Sean Ross, Ross on the radio, wrote about exact format trend in his publication several months ago. So much for original ideas. Now we have a morning show, n/w/t, two breaks an hour (3rd will come, if they ever can sell the format). yawn....

To bad about Kevin. Cant believe they let him and Jay Baker go. Why would they fire their two most talented personalities if you arent entirely changing the staff? They were my two favorite guys on the station. Hope they pop up somewhere soon. Are they really stopping twice an hour? What happened to only once? Did the corporate guys finally learn their lesson?

AllAccess has a post this morning looking for an Operations Manager for WKLU. Scott Roddy in Ft. Wayne is the contact person for the position.
I heard him on the air the other day! The Big Round Mound of Sound is back! Loved him on 1045. Hope that means they are going to start returning to the old 1045 which means playing real Oldies! Radio Ho heres your chance to apply for WKLU and make some of those changes you always talk about on here ;D

The Big Round Mound??? Unless he's packed on the pounds since we worked together...I remember him as quite thin. Anyway, I hadn't listened in a while to 'KLU. Last I heard, he was PD at the new country station in Ft. Wayne...at least he was back around Thanksgiving when I was up in that area.
He used to call himself that on 1045 because of how much he liked food. I have heard several people comment on the air that he was indeed quite thin. I hope he returns so he can get the food receipes from the Grandmas again! That guy was a hoot. Since WKLU is looking for an operations manager does that mean they got rid of Libby? Wasnt that her position there? Real Insider can you clarify?

I'm wondering about Libby also...she had posted for air talent a while back and I had traded emails with her. I wonder if I should shoot Scott an email.

And if Libby is gone, I hope she didn't take the $1000 'severance' pay. All other KLU employees that were fired accepted those checks, only to find that by doing so, they were ineligible for unemployment. Gotta hand it them - they may not BE corporate, but they sure know all the corporate tricks.
