WKMB AM 1070 running at night with a strange signal

WKMB is running on the air at as of 2am friday july 27 2012. The program material sounds like farm animals mating.....
What kind of BOZOs are running this place. I don't know HOW they keep their license???

What you may be hearing could be the sounds of animal GHOSTS.

After all, you were listening at the animal witching hour of 2-AM, and WKMB's transmitter is located on the site of the former Phifer's Animal Farm in Gillette, NJ, the renown final resting place for the most famous King of the Animal Kingdom, Leo the MGM Lion. Yes, that Leo....who famously ROARS at the start of all those classic MGM Motion Pictures.

Did you happen to hear Leo Roar on the radio? ???

If you don't know the background, this link takes you to a People Magazine story on Leo's burial spot, which shares the same property as WKMB's transmitter. Both very visible to NJ Transit train commuters on the old Gladstone Line as they pass through Gillette.

Twenty years ago, an old friend lived up the street and led the charge to turn most of the property into a park with Leo's grave as the central focus, that didn't happen. Now it seems the animal Ghosts may be invading the transmitter shack in the middle of the night, trying to get the world to pay attention to them, and the memory of the Great Leo, by playing their own version of "Stirling Country" Love and Mating Songs for late night listeners. ::)

Well, at 4:30 PM Sunday there is what sounds like a screaming preacher but someone put the tape on tails out!!!!!!!
What a BUNCH OF BOZOs!!!!!!!! I guess the Ghost of Leo has invaded the studios as well :)

This stattion is a FAR CRY from what it once was... a station with a "heritage" AND an actual audience. In the last few years, specifically the last 2, I am beyond perplexed as to HOW they are allowed to retain possession of that license myself based on ALL of the FCC rules and guidelines that are broken on a daily basis. I hear the station on at night nearly 365 days a year and yet the FCC does nothing but they manage to FINE the NJTPK Authority because their towers don't have strobes or aren't in proper "painted condition." Priorities off a little much? I would think 1070 in Canada would take issue with them causing skywave issues with WKMB's Non-D pattern broadcasting at whatever they are putting out power-wise but it doesnt seem to be their licensed power because it is waaaaay tooooo strong anytime I listen unless they have some great grounding which I would highly doubt... What a disgrace. I'd much rather see any other broadcaster, even ethnic, take it over and actually do something productive with it and actually SERVE the Public!

Sad :(

Well, tonight they are on the air at 11:00 PM with what sounds like a 78 rpm record running at 16 2/3 rpm! What a Joke of a station! FCC ARE YOU LISTENING?????????????????????

As sNEWSer said this used to be a station that actually HAD Listeners. What a shame that incompetent idiots get a license to operate a broadcast station on the public airwaves!!!!!!!

mad

Yes being on the air at 11PM is illegal, but play a record at the wrong speed is not. The FCC has no authority over programs being broadcast provided it's not obscene in nature.

Hope they can afford paying a $14,000 fine for running at night, license says "DAYTIME ONLY". Glad to see a responsible operator is there!

This sounds like someone is breaking in and having fun late at night. A former employee perhaps? That's why you always change the locks after you fire someone.
