The program material sounds like farm animals mating.....
What you may be hearing could be the sounds of animal
GHOSTS.
After all, you were listening at the animal witching hour of 2-AM, and WKMB's transmitter is located on the site of the former Phifer's Animal Farm in Gillette, NJ, the renown final resting place for the most famous King of the Animal Kingdom, Leo the MGM Lion. Yes, that Leo....who famously ROARS at the start of all those classic MGM Motion Pictures.
Did you happen to hear Leo Roar on the radio? ???
If you don't know the background, this link takes you to a
People Magazine story on Leo's burial spot, which shares the same property as WKMB's transmitter. Both very visible to NJ Transit train commuters on the old Gladstone Line as they pass through Gillette.

Twenty years ago, an old friend lived up the street and led the charge to turn most of the property into a park with Leo's grave as the central focus, that didn't happen. Now it seems the animal Ghosts may be invading the transmitter shack in the middle of the night, trying to get the world to pay attention to them, and the memory of the Great Leo, by playing their own version of "Stirling Country" Love and Mating Songs for late night listeners. :
