WKMK Now "Thunder 98.5"

According to the front page or Radio-Info "K-98.5" WKMK has rebranded as "Thunder 98.5; Ocean County Country".

Well, another job done by Press. I'm surprised they didn't pull the plug on country. And this new name should boost them in the ratings I guess?

Aside from the new branding, can someone explain what the difference is between K 98.5 and Thunder 98.5? Both play the same pop-country acts like Taylor Swift, Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood, and I haven't noticed anything that set the two apart. The word Thunder had me hoping that they were going to throw some more "Outlaw Country" into the mix, but from the looks of things that isn't happening.

Between Cat Country and Thunder, do we really need this much country music on the radio? I mean, Press blows up the only audible alternative station on the dial but we can support multiples of so many other formats. I don't get it.

Obviously whoever is handling WKMK isn't nearly as impulsive as the decision maker for WHTG/WBBO.
