WKMX Pornstar!

WOW, just had to comment on this. I was told by a friend that WKMX was having the huge Ron Jeremy, the porn star (no pun intended), on with Stephano. I thought, no way, not WKMX. Tuned in today...and BAM...there he was. RON JEREMY ON WKMX...LMAO

Come on, People at Tragic Kingdom know their audience don't they? JRL..maybe...TVY..no..but yes before WKMX.

Who cares if he was on the Surreal Life or some other stupid show. This was a mistake for management. Who would allow this to happen? Heard the Princess was excited about meeting him too...was this her plan....is she still employed at the Tragic Kingdom? Do they not have a PD who would trump that???? Where the heck is AP when something like this happens? We all know she is in charge and everything has to be ran by her first...did she OK this??

Am i the only person who thinks this is wrong?

Holy Jeepers Batman..That man is HUGE!

Wrong? Personally, no, he's a well educated individual with obviously good genes (admitted jealousy) in certain areas but as an interview on a station in Dothan AL, YES! On a station that targets listeners under 30, YES. I can hear the kids' questions now, "Mommy, what's Teasers?...Can we go see the King of Porn?" "Hey Mom, what's porn?"

I wonder if today will SWELL the woof audience? (Pun intended)

So BlownAway, just what did you hear the Princess was excited about? Please be specific. I heard the replay of the interview just a few minutes ago and she said she'd "See everybody tonight with Ron Jeremy". Humm....If she calls her husband Bobblehead (nice guy BTW) what's her pet name for Ron going to be?

Hey does this mean we can expect a whole new series of PI spots on Tragic?

Oh yeah, welcome in BlownAway, name is very appropriate for this thread (in several ways).

I'am not a prude however...I do think that a radio station should maintain some level of class. And interviewing Ron Jeremy is not the best way to do that..BUT..having him on the air is no worse than airing Howard Stern, Lex and Terry..or Opie and Anthony. And considering the format that KMX runs it is actually a good ratings boost to have him on..their audience is into the whole CRAP culture in this country..they all know who Ron Jeremy is, and they love anything that seems dirty and bad..THEIR KIDS! Although this may cause some parents to get up in arms..IT WILL ABSOLUTELY NOT HURT LISTENERSHIP..it may actually help it. Good ratings idea-YES, Classless-Absolutely! And by the way I would choose the class over cheap ratings.

he is a fun interview though. you can pretty much ask him anything, and he's a pretty nice guy - which is more than i can say in regards to some people i'll kindly refer to as popular "artists" with more "class"... country, a/c or otherwise.

Headland- First let me say that I do respect you and read your book. But please pull your head from your arse on this one! Stern, Lex and Terry, and O&A all appear on mostly rock and MATURE male oriented stations. This is below trash for a station that targets 12-24 year olds women. As a parent I would be outraged if I heard my child listening to this and yank the radio out of their room, and anytime I am around that 100,000 watt waste of station would not be heard, but family friendly radio like WOOF would be playing. So yeah this could hurt their listenership.

Magic continues to disgrace themselves, they had an awsome radio station that they continue to bastardize on an almost daily basis. IT was a hertiage market leader now its somewhere in the middle, almost like CC or Cumeless is running that company. If I was a magican I would use my powers and get it back to where it was. Oh, yeah I forgot...I have to use 3 stations to try take on the classy other heritage station in the market.

Has anyoned thought about the advertiser? Here this 100,000 watt waste is running a contest to do a bedroom makeover for young listener brounght to by a big soft drink provider? What about their bikes for bust promotion? Both sponsors are tied to this what about the egg in their face? How can you try to help the youth while promoting an industry that is on the opposite spectrum? I am not bashing the porn indsutry nor those who use it, or am I a prude, but common sense says when you have a demo of primarly young children and you are doing everything for children you should leave this alone. I actually heard this quote from someone within "YOU CAN"T BE ALL THINGS TO ALL PEOPLE" Think about it you can't be family friendly and run a pornstar at the same time.

Something else you need to consider and its a big one...LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! Southeast Alabama, and Dothan, the heart of the Bible belt I'm sorry I don't see a porn star interview helping your station.

Ok, I am stepping off my soap box...

Sadly, this is nothing worse than VH1 or MTV anymore on a normal day. I agree,
and I must be getting really, really old...you might do it on male oriented rock
but not EVER on KMX while teens are driving themselves to school and parents have no one to control them...then again, it's not like any of them listen to RADIO anyway. It
gives those that did hear it something to talk about in school and the buzz
goes around. Now, something simple like an interview can pull teenagers just
that much more away from their parents control. In the long run, you never
know what the results of that interview can do to someones life --- good or bad.
I am sure there was no warning. I learned long ago that you never cross that
line when I got blessed out by a woman in business who used a station I was
programming for music for callers on hold and the talk was on a similar subject for ten minutes and
the business was a healing service for sexual abuse. She had listened for years
and we were clean and dependable until someone thought it was necessary to
get Nina Hartley in on an interview. It cost integrity, quality and seriously cheapened
the image for months. We did make our apolgies, but I refused to fire the morning
crew who actually got better and were on their game better after that.

Times have changed, but mostly I have to agree that Tragic is worse than obscene
with all the stupid things they have done in the last year. Things like this will put
them closer to selling and/or bankruptcy --- look at the bright side.

You all are right in being saddened by the demise of a once great WKMX that was
as strong and on it's game as any station I have heard. It used to rival big city
radio sound. Now, it limps along with fat, old pornstars. How sexy is that? Pitiful
to say, but that's just another nail in the coffin.

When one stops and considers what KMX used to sound like, (i.e. BJ mornings, Holly middays, John afternoons, "Rod Conner" after dark), and then compare that to what they sound like now...TRAGIC is an understatement.

Back in those days, KMX sounded better than any major market CHR.

You know it never ceases to amaze me how all the trolls crawl out from underneath the Wiregrass Radio Bridge whenever KMX or TVY make a move. Did any of you actually hear the interview on KMX? To be a critic one must have achieved some level of credibility in the field in which you offer criticism. For example if you were to critique a movie you'd actually have to watch the movie....same goes for a book critique. So, did you actually hear the interview? or did someone TELL you about the interview? Are you now SPECULATING about what you think was said in the interview....and ASSUMING that it was all about Ron Jeremy's "length" in the Adult film industry. In order to hear the interview you would have had to have been tuned in on Friday afternoon and listened for about 8 min. Which unless you are like Stewy sitting in a dark room with 4 radios on simultaniously you probably missed it because there were no promos for the interview. However.....you could have tuned in to Rock 102.5 for their very promo-ed interview with Ron for the entire 5 o'clock hour. Where they did in fact talk about his history in the Porn Business. It's a good thing that the only people that listen to that station are men ages 25-54 who drive ALONE in their vehicles with no one else, i.e. children, listening. The problem with all of you is that you cower behind the veil of radioinfo and spit poison from what is clearly a biased position. That being said....I hope that none of you are using your personal computers at home where your "Children" live to post on this site. If you were then you would have access to the internet and the internet has the DEVIL in it. Don't watch TV either, cancel your satalite subscriptions and cable because your "children" could see something offensive. While you're at it, Barnes and Noble, Books a Million, the public Library are right out! Especially that Harry Potter he's a witch as we all know that is of the Devil. Wait...then you couldn't go to Wal-Mart or Target either...because there are books and videos and magazines there too and if I let my "Child wander over to the Electronics section where they play local radio stations on all the display stereos they could hear Ron Jeremy tell them to leave home and join the porn industry now! What is one to do? Oh...Thank God....listen to Woof and any thing that isn't a MAGIC BROADCASTING station. Because Magic...is a dark art of witches and warlocks....and all things evil.

It played at approximately 5:35pm on Friday evening. This was the replay that I heard, know it was from the normal poor job of editting that was done. Actually don't recall anything about "length" in the interview, only use two radios (have improved with practice), room's not dark because of the computer screen. Missed the interview on 102.5 but wish I hadn't, I bet it was more informative and entertaining.

Magic isn't evil, only stupid. Evil is not stupid.

Tibbs, Nina Hartley....WOW! I am green with envy. Not for the radio situation obviously but to know Nina Hartley. WOW!!! What an actress and with a career that lasted extremely long without slipping in quality at all. That's cool.

Yes I to actually heard the pathetic interview. If KMX & TVY would actually make smart moves and not stupid ones then nothing would ever be said on this board.

I mean come on you have kids that listen to your station and it is obvious who your target is with your Bedroom Make over promotion. So why even air a Porn Star on your station Promoting a Business that doesn't even advertise on your station ? Did you benifit anything from it ? I think not !

You are exactly right about who WESP's Target is it's Men 25-54 so there is nothing wrong with them airing it . Most kids aren't listening to that station they are listening to you .

You guys have been making alot of stupid moves lately 1st Kelly not giving the money to the guy that had the song right now this. Your listeners will run the other way and you will be out of a job

OK first of all I just want to make sure that everyone understands that I agree that it was pathetic, classless and unprofessional to interview Ron Jeremy on WKMX..BUT same goes for WESP..look I also despise Magic but some of you are being extremely hypocritical..It's no more right for WESP to air the Interview just because their a classic rock station..NEWS FLASH: THERE ARE KIDS THAT ALSO LISTEN TO THEM!..also in regards to the "Bible Belt" thing older people are MORE likely to be religous. And before you say "Rock 102.5 is not intended for children" that does not make it any better because they can still hear it. And be honest none of you give a damn about the "children" you just hate KMX..and so do I..but be real here..Okay! Also do any of you really believe..I mean really..that the interview will actually hurt KMX's listenership..really now think about it!..Yeah I didn't think so. It was STUPID and unprofessional and it may cause them to lose some advertisers..but THEY WILL NOT LOSE LISTENERS! I mean really ..people of all ages eat that stuff up that's why you see it EVERYWHERE..EVEN IN ALABAMA! Oh and FYI most parents never have a clue what their children are listening too. So YES it was ridiculous for kmx..AND WESP..to air Ron Jeremy. Be Fair..Okay!
