WKNE changes...

Hello everyone.....my friend TN from Saga told me of some interesting changes going on in Keene, NH. 1st WKNE has a new transmitter.....didnt notice anything wrong with the old one.....signal seems very strong. Also....starting in mid-January....Bob Varnum who has been in the night slot for something like 8 years is stepping down and changing careers. So, Parker Springfield.....former morning guy for WOQL is pegged as the new night guy. I heard his morning show.....hopefully he can pull off a CHR/Hot AC delivery.....going from oldies to a CHR is a bit of a stretch.....

Speaking of WOQL its now the new SUNNY 97.7. Totally satellite driven.....good mix of music.....kinda a KNE lite. This leaves no local oldies station. Seems to be the trend.

KNE is a very strong signal and heritage station....but it seems a little flat....hopefully these changes bring other programming changes as well.

What are your thoughts?

WKNE has a new antenna which is far less directional than the old one. It went live a couple of days ago.
Look for KNE to broadcast in HD in the very near future, which required a new transmitter.
WOQL is now WSNI, but there is an oldies station in Walpole at 96.3 which simulcasts a station up in the UV, but I can't remember which one.

You would be referring to the former Vox station 104.3 WODS. If that's still the same call letters.

WODS is in Boston and has been for 20-odd years. Not sure what 104.3's calls are...WWOD maybe?

WWOD is the 104.3 Oldies station that Nassau owns in the Upper Valley and WPLY is the drone at 96.3 out of Walpole (which, for a time, held the WCFR calls).

LOL. Dammit had my call letters confused. :-X

Oddly, I found myself on the Boston boards and there was a discussion at great length over WODS and I realized then that I was in error. Hadn't got back to this one til just now. Thanks for the correction!

(At least I wasn't too far off. lol)

I wish the best of luck to Bobby Show in whatever he decides to do next. Seemed like he was there a bit longer than 8 years, though 8 years doing nights could be right. One of radio's good guys in my experience.

Peace,
Max
