WKNE HD2 / WKBK FM Suggestion

Anyone else in the Keene area interested in hearing WKBK on FM?

Since it's not likely that Saga will be flipping one of their music FMs to talk anytime soon, perhaps they could be convinced to put WKBK's audio on WKNE HD2?

I have sent my thoughts on this to Bob, Dan, and the crew over there at Saga.

Is there anyone else interested in this? I hope I'm not the only listener in Keene with an HD radio...

Even though I don;t live near Keene, but I do drive through there fairly regularly.. Putting WKBK on an HD-2 signal would be a great idea. 1290 seems to have a very tough night time signal going down Route 12 south, and perhaps the 1290 signal is overall a bit tough in general going south and west of Keene. The question would be issues with the syndicated shows since there would be huge amounts of overlap with other stations that carry Rush, the Red Sox, etc.

I'm sure the conservative minority in Brattleboro would be able to hear El Rushbo without any static !!

Does the HD signal make the trip to Brattleboro?

Additionally, I believe the station in Brattleboro is liberal talk so it is unlikely that there would be any conflict of interest issues. Unless you know of any other talk stations in this general area...

Saga owns the "Dead Air America" affiliate WKVT (AM) that one time featured the good stuff like Rush and Howie.. I always found while in my travels in Brattleboro having a very hard time picking up WKBK strong over there.

Rush is good talent, but I've never understood why anyone in New Hampshire gives a damn about a Boston/Massachusetts-oriented radio host like Howie Carr. ???

Long live Gardner Goldsmith! He originates from New Hampshire and is far more talented than Carr.

All of southern New Hampshire is a suburb of Boston! Plus there's lots of transplants not only from Boston, have to count NYC too. That had a more than a fair amount of what cranked up Imus' success in NNE. It's nice through the net' to hear WEEI's stuff, WFAN's stuff, and taking me back to my youth.."The Sunday Night Sports Huddle" back on WTKK.. Where's Mark, and Jim ?

PLEASE NO! WKNE HD2 - All Republican All the Time. I mean, lets have some diversity WKBK please. I am so sick of hearing about guns and the military on the weekends....lol.....

Its a great idea though.....but....along way away. I dont even know where you can buy an HD radio in the Monadnock region.

Change is coming to Sat nites after the Sox are done... 8)

The worst weekend shows has to be Monica Crowley. She's awful.

The change is the adding of my show! ;D

Havn't checked the website, does WKBK stream ? Do any of your Keene clustermates stream ?

I don't work for Saga. I host an independently syndicated talk radio program originating from New Hampshire.

I know WKBK does not stream, and I don't think their other stations do either.

Limboob is "good talent" and "good stuff"?!? He's a drug dealing, pill-popping, excuse making, lying, sycophant boob who should be in jail.

I certainly would never say he is "good stuff". I don't like his show and I would vehemently disagree with him on a lot of things. However, he draws listeners and is on over 600 stations, so I think it's fair to call him "talented".

Come on gang, whether you agree or disagree with Rush's views or what his show is totally all about, one could make almost make the analogy that Rush is to talk radio as the Beatles are to rock and roll ! Think about it, go back 20 years ago and the AM side of the dial overall was dying in both revenues and listeners. There were so many AM's especially in medium and small markets that were simultcasting their FM signals.. Rush proved full well that a national show in the middle of the day can draw tons of listeners, in the beginning he did his 'National Show" for 2 hours and a "local show" on 77 WABC New York for 2 hours. WABC did not carry the national show for a while, until the noon to 3 expansion around 1990 / 91 or so, in which time the local WABC show was gonzo. There's a lot of great national talk product out there, and talk radio is compelling. Keeps the local hosts polished as well ! I'd take just about any talk show over an boring voice tracked FM jock doing "entertainment tonight' on the radio anyday, though that's comparing apples and oranges. Look how many talk options a PD can pick from ! In saying all of this, one would also have to give honorable mention to WFAN as being the first sports / talk formated station in the nation. Sports is huge business, look at WEEI on which I'm listening to the stream as I type this.. If it wasn;t for El Rushbo and pioneers like the FAN, AM Radio in this country would become an afterthought just like the majority of AM stations in Canada..
