WKNR does something right...

The acquisition of Les Levine to the Indians Post Game show was the right move (and simulcast on Fox Sports Net)...finally a move that will immediately bring NEW listeners and sponsors to the station. Couldn't be happier for Les. If/when he succeeds and gets people talking about WKNR again, where does WKNR fit him into the daily lineup?

Not sure about the Neil Bender part of this (I'm told he's a good guy)...but Les will/should absolutely carry that show. His first week will likely be more about his return than anything having to do w/ the Tribe...but that's a good thing in my eyes. He's earned it.

Also, I wonder how Brinda feels about this move - it's no secret that he and Levine have had their problems in the past.

Levine is fine, but having Bender on with him will be a disaster. He is awful and doesn't know anything about sports, which is painfully obvious when listening to him. I've heard he gets absolutely no respect within local media circles or from the teams themselves.

Remember that Bob Karlovec actually took over for Neil in the same exact slot last June, too. In comparison to auto vehicles, Les is a rarely-used '64 Ford Mustang, while Neil is a well-worn '87 Chevy Chevette - with faint touches of rust on the doors. Neil only has on-air slots on WKNR because Salem didn't want to pay for Les or Tony Rizzo.

I'll ask this: was it FSN that dictated Les on the show? IIRC, this was a collaboration between FSN and WKNR, so that easily could have happened.

Let the over/under on how long this pairing lasts. I say not for long- especially if Les easily outshines Neil on the program (which WILL happen, believe me...)

If the daytime hosts (Brinda, Roda) couldn't do it because of their already full schedules then the clear choice to me from KNR was Catan. He is a much better postgame host than Bender and is much more knowledgable. Just a baffling choice in a long line of baffling choices.

Agreed. I'D have picked Mike Catan - he's the only real one of the producer/hosts at WKNR who I actually like, and would listen to, on a regular basis. (Brinda's producer, Josh Sabo, is a distant second.)

Now, let's be honest. Was this move made because Neil Bender is more, ummm, *photogenic* than either Mike Catan or Bob Karolvec? Again, I'd like to know how much influence FSN had on setting up this program... just curious...
