WKNR Programming Changes

Dear God, please don't tell me Fedor is getting the PMD slot...I'll live with "Brinda and Munch", but if Fedor is doing anything other than sports center updates, then something ain't right.

Sadly, I never expected them to do anything smart. But from what I've heard, this could be the dumbest move they've ever made. And that's saying a lot by their low standards.

If you're telling me what I think you're telling me...will there at least be a grown up to reign him in, or has CK raised the white flag due to Bull & Fox?

To answer the first question: yes, there will be. But said person will not only have Fedor to deal with. It's a three-person show.

To answer the second question: doesn't it feel that way, even if Craig won't publicly admit it?

Will there be a third wheel on RBS to fill Ned's spot?

And who is the third wheel on the new PM show?

If you can't name names, I'll understand, but a hint or 2 would help me figure it out for myself.

Yeah Bruce ought to go over real well. That Hooley/Fedor/Goldhammer Buckeye-hating excuse for a show a few months back was the most un-listenable crap in the history of Cleveland radio. No exaggeration. I don't care if they pair Bruce Hooley with Jesus, I'm not listening to him spew his anti-Buckeye agenda.

Why can't GKB go out and get fresh talent, like 92.3 did? People are tired of them shuffling the same pompus a-holes around into new timeslots and listening to them garble the same crap. If The Fan showed the Cleveland market anything, is that people are dying for NEW VOICES.

I like Bruce Hooley. Since when does everyone have to be a Buckeye fan that lives in Cleveland? I didn't realize every host has to be 100% positive about OSU all the time. If you want that then listen to Roda/Munch who think OSU should win the national title every year. You don't have to be overboard in your hate like Goldhammer. Hooley is fair. He will be a good addition to WKNR

Does anyone have any kind of confirmation about The Fan pulling better numbers then KNR at this point? Reading alot of stuff on both boards about how they MUST be just killing it right now. While it has been cool to have another option when it comes to sports talk, their line-up so far to me has been a tad underwhelming. They do some things well....but other things (mornings/mid-days) are almost unlistenable. BTW I did catch Sportsboy Tony refer to the station this evening as radio923, made me chuckle.

I'm hoping people grow into things...

You gotta really enjoy Kevin and Chuck's schtick to enjoy their show. The Talking Heads I could live without. I think they are a bit boring, and have the weakest producing crew from an on-air standpoint, but let's be honest, a terrible show would be a better option than the current tRBS incarnation. If Craig and company are willing (able?) to muzzle Aaron like they are going to do to Chris Fedor, than Tony has a shot to gain back listeners.

Bruce and Greg look like the sacrificial lambs here. They are the guys who can come on in a last ditch effort to say "look, we are trying to go live and local on your ride home." Maybe they can start some controversy and pull some advertisers and listeners that way. Reghi handling post games, especially Cavs, is OK for that station.

The one thing I have heard from 92.3 are two sponsors that I have heard either exclusively on WKNR or WMMS - Gillingham Ford (a ton of spots) and Tim Lally Chevy. These dealers know this station is making an impact. Nothing from Mike D'Amato yet, but I would imagine that his tight relationship with Munch is a factor right now.

The last time he was in afternoon drive, it was split between him and Geoff Sindelar during the Cablevision era.

Aside from that, Brinda's had every other shift possible on the station.

There's a difference between legitimate criticism, and complete over the top hate that borders on the buffoonish.

Hammer is rediculous with his outrageous venom toward the Buckeyes, and it comes across almost as phony (like a pro wrestler playing his gimmick).

Hooley prides himself on the fact that he was fired from the Buckeyes flagship station because he was "too critical" during the Tressel scandal, so now he plays up the "bad boy" image.

I'm as big a Buckeye fan as anybody, and I know we have problems, and if people are talking intellegently about them, I have no problem with it.

But bashing for the sake of bashing just because you wanna get a rise out of people...no.

Hammer's at that point, Hooley's getting there, but not as bad. Fedor is a front-runner who thinks he's the smartest guy in the room, so since he's in Buckeye country, he'll hitch his wagon to Boise State and sing their paises because they're the flavor of the month.

If Fedor is held to just producing/sports anchoring, then that's a plus, and I'll give Brinda and Hooley a fair shot.

If Aaron is held to just anchoring or at least semi-shackled (he'll never be completely restricted for obvious reasons), and maybe get the current R & R sidekicks (Will Burge and Dave DeNatale) to work with Rizz and dilute the Hammer effect, then maybe there's a glimmer of hope for RBS.

Kiley and Booms are decent but an acquired taste, Talking Heads are OK and at least they're grown-ups trying to have intelligent conversations, rather then the Bratty Bunch running amok with a live mic. They hit the jackpot with Bull and Fox, and Ken Carmen is solid.

Do I have have the numbers in front of me? No. But common horse sense would tell you that the Fan is causing some heartburn over at the Galleria.

When they're pulling Fedor off of RBS, putting together an all new PMD show with some fresh blood (Hooley) and moving R & R to late evenings (to get them away from Bull and Fox--CK won't admit it, but that's why) that should indicate that Craig is realizing that the staus quo ain't cutting it now that the new kid is in the sandbox.
