WKNR Programming Changes

The final piece in the WKNR upheaval is complete.

Will Burge will be promoted to co-host the 7p-9p block alongside Je'Rod Cherry on "The Show Formerly Known As 'Xs and Os.'"

Good move, IMO. Would rather Will and/or Dino have been teamed up with Bruce Hooley - so as to give a feeling of newness to the afternoon show - but this gives Will a chance to prove himself.

Makes sense, seeing as "Willie B." is now Browns beat reporter over there, so expect the 7-9 slot (assumingly under the "Gamenight" banner) to be football heavy.

Gotta point something out on this week's KNR schedule...

In the 7-9 slot on Monday and Tuesday, they have listed Will Burge, Je'Rod Cherry...and Emmitt Golden.

Either they were willing to pony up the $8 an hour, or EG agreed to work for Ramen noodles.

Just the same, was all that hub-bub worth losing LeCharles Bentley over?

BTW...

LB has been making frequent guest spots on The Fan...perhaps could it be a prelude to a more permanent arrangement?

Also Cherry has been sitting in on RBS the last couple of Mondays...read anything into it?

Haven't had time to update the blog, but yes, that 7-9 PM arrangement is official.

Will Burge, J'Rod Cherry and Emmett Golden with a new show name, "3 Deep". Dave D. handles SportsCenter updates. He'll also join Reghi and Roda, by the way.

Anyone have any insight or reaction of how Reghi and Roda are handling their demotion?

Can't be too pleased they are moving to a graveyard shify and some of the "kids" at the station have more prominent roles.

They sounded pretty happy on the air last night, show was actually more fun and loose than I remember R&R being.

BTW, from earlier in this thread, not only do I hear The Fan running promos on WNCX, but now WNCX is running promos on The Fan. Just an observation for whatever that's worth.....

Synergy: it's a good thing. ::)

WKNR wishes it had a sister station to cross-promote with.

Re: how Reghi & Roda are feeling about being on evenings on WKNR: Would they prefer to be on a drivetime shift? Well, sure....who wouldn't?

But, in this economy, to have an on-air gig...regardless of time slot, is certainly better than no job at all.

I have to say, I do miss Greg Brinda being the lead host on a show. Nothing against the new guy who's basically running afternoons on WKNR. He's OK. I just like Brinda alone (or with a sidekick who's secondary).

It is really interesting how the existence of a 2nd sportstalk station (923TheFan) has shaken things up, isn't it?

It does, DJ! WWGK/1540 "ESPN 1540 KNR2"! They cross-promote constantly! Why, half the "spots" on "KNR2" are promos for the big brother station!

What? You mean a REAL radio station, and not a 1 kW daytimer you can hear clearly on parts of Euclid Avenue?

Oh, nevermind... ;)

An interesting development on RBS...

Chrissy Prebonick, another in a long line of interns who worked her way up at the Galleria, has become a semi-sidekick on RBS.

I bring this up because it kinda looks like Rizz is trying to turn Hammer/Casey Kulas/Chrissy into his version of Gohman/Seth/Jennifer

Free labor ?

How many " interns " does KNR use for free labor? Would be curious to know how many bodies they have over there working without pay.

As many as they can get.

Remember, this is the station that let LeCharles Bentley walk due to not wanting to pay Emmitt Golden $8 per hour to produce a 2 hour show ($16 per day X 5 days = $80 per week).

Of course, EG was brought back to be part of the new "3 Deep" show...probably using part of LB's salary, and still having $$ left over.

So 'KNR now has their own "Lindsey." Great. Next thing you know, one of their afternoon hosts is going to start taking up the identity of "The Taurus." ::)

Which is funny enough, considering that Lindsey Foltin actually started as a P/T producer at WKNR, bolting to join "The Fan" upon their launch.

I guess what tRBS wants to do is to have a more tolerable version of past sidekick/über provocateur Sabrina Parr.
