WKNY 1490 Kingston, New York

Anyone know if WKNY 1490 in Kingston, New York has ever streamed on line or a reason why they don't stream their station live ? I have great memories of WKNY & WGHQ in the 1980s... Bill Baker reminded me of Dan Ingram for some reason..very talented! Mike Lawrence was great on WGHQ too...anyone know if Mike Lawrence is still in radio any where ?

WKNY does not have a website at all! I checked Google and it doesn't have an official website for WKNY. What's wrong with that?

Anyways, I remember when WKNY used to have a Yankee games every season, but too bad, Yankees baseball is on "The Wolf" at 94.3. I hope Yankees baseball should go back to WKNY someday.

As I mentioned, Yankees baseball should not belong on "The Wolf", because it doesn't sound good on FM, I guess it should belong on AM. Look at WCBS-AM, they do the same thing on the AM band. I hope WKNY should bring Yankees baseball back probably next season or so.

Screw the Yankees. It's bad enough that we have to listen to high school football on KNY. As for a web site, it wouldn't be a bad idea to generate additional listener interest. Regarding GHQ, I haven't listened to them since the Bill Skilling days, and I don't know ANYONE who does! ;D

You tell 'em. Nobody wants to listen to ballgames that actually come in at night.

In fact, baseball broadcasts on AM radio usually increase nighttime listenership (i.e WCBS-A, WABC), however....
during FM games in most cases nationally, audiences have either decreased or remained relatively stable...no real noteworthy audience increases, although billing has benefitted somewhat in some smaller markets.

Years ago... early 1970's, WKNY ran BOTH the Mets and the Yankees... they usually tape delayed the Mets... or at times, they'd do a few innings of tthe Yankee game, then do a few Mets innings, then go back to the Yankees...

Com'on. WKNY doesn't even reach outside Kingston well DURING THE DAY! And at night, forget it, you have to be right next to the transmitter. Not to mention that, well, who the hell listens to the station anyway? If you want to listen to baseball on AM so bad, put on 880 or 660. The Yankees are great on 94.3. I'm so glad I don't have to listen to staticy AM.

Re: Riiight

The Yankees are on 880 WCBS-AM right now but Not on 94.3 WKXP FM...are you sure are listening to the Yankees on WKXP-FM ?

The lawyers at Major League Baseball would be most interested to learn that a Yankees affiliate is broadcasting games online.

Re: Riiight

I believe its been explained that because WTSX is outside the metro NYC area and the station is a small market station they are permitted to air the games online. There might be other reasons I'm not remembering as well.

Don't know about that. WIRY runs a loop of worn out country songs during Yankees games .

Re: Riiight

WIRY might be in a whole different situation being that they are 18 miles from the Canadian border...I know this as I use to live a mile from the WIRY studios. I don't think the lawyers of WTSX Port Jervis are stupid so they probably have the rights to air the Yankee games online.

Games carried ONLINE can be listened to anywhere. Therefore, it wouldn't matter if they were in a big or small market. I'm sure that the station is probably just unaware that they shouldn't be airing games online.
Or....they're bad ass outlaws who don't care about no stinkin' rules!!
