WKOA Radio very educational

So, anyway, we were at the coffee shop this evening throwing back shots and one of my girlfriends sat down with us and ask us if we knew what a melton is? She heard it this morning on k105. The guy dj told the girl dj a melton is a FRONTAL WEDGIE. She said "she could tell the girl dj was annoyed and wanted to slap him down" Sounds like he has been listening to Bob and Tom Radio way toooo much. Now we have a new pick up line...thanks dude. ;D

Glad I could be of service.

Oh, that sounds like some great family friendly radio. Was that really necessary to talk about on the radio?

K105 has an opportunity to be a great, leading radio station in the community. Instead, and probably because they only have to compete with artistic, are lazy, boring, not community oriented and operates like most newspaper companies. And radio people continue to ask, what happened to radio. When was the last time you saw any of the Schurz stations or Artistic stations on the corner, doing a remote, when it was 100% in the communities best interest? OK, I'll give you the CMN at Marsh or whatever that was. This is a horrible radio market. Period.

How - pray tell - is a remote 100% in the community's best interest?

LJ must be thinking of raising money for a non profit, not a remote where the DJ is hawking autos at Rohrman.

fwmw, correct. I am referring 100% to radio stations in the Lafayette market, serving their community......not selling cars. Promoting community events, benefits, building pride in the community.

I checked the B1029 website a couple weeks ago, and they were promoting a charity rubber duck race, which many communities have, and a local arts and music fest on the main page.

The top radio stations are "winning by default". There isn't as much street presence anymore and most of the dayparts are automated.
If K-105 wasn't a 50K watt country station, they'd be scrambling to get everyone's attention just like any other station.
If WASK-FM wasn't oldies, BOB would be well on the way to being the number one station in the market just by virture of their format!

If you are a local organization trying to get some PSA's on the air and get some FREE mentions to promote your charity, try getting some airlplay. Unless there's some sort of sponsorship involved where they get mentions out of it, that's precious airtime they can't give up.
Shouldn't be that way.

Lurker, did WXXB not promote these events on-air too? I can't hear the station where I am, but since it was one of the main banners on the site I assumed it was on-air as well. Most stations converge digital and on-air messages.
