WKQB "Kicks" the country format

WKQB Southern Pines/Fayetteville, formerly "Cape Fear Country Kix 106.9", has dropped the country and is spinning the format wheel, according to All Access. The WKQB website seems to allude to another "Jack FM" format.

As the PD - I can tell you, without a doubt, that country is staying...

Well that's going to be some kind of modified "Jack" format, then.
None of the others play much country, do they? ;)

Perhaps they are going to do a country version of jack, similar to what Hank 97.1 in Indianapolis, IN is doing.

Re: All Access

It was reported this morning that the station relaunched as "Thunder 106.9" a rockin' country format similar to "The Wolf" in Nashville.

Country Jack would have been a fun character to image. ;)

Re: All Access

Well - it's not really a "rockin' country", as you might think. It's more soft ac/hot ac/classic rock/oldies/country. "Country Jack" *really* is the right handle for it...should be interesting to see how it all shakes out. WKQB has no place to go but up...

Since yes.com doesn't exactly work for us, I'll be happy to show post an hour of how the music shakes out, if someone cares :)

Re: All Access

1-Classic Rock 2-Urban 3-"Kicks" Cuntry 4. "Thunder" Country ... 106.9 has tried something different nearly every year since Cumulus bought it and integrated it into their Fayetteville cluster. The first priority should have been to act on the CP that the station already had to move the transmitter site closer in from Southern Pines to near Raeford. Of all the Fayetteville move-ins (which is about every commercial FM in the market except Q98), 106.9's signal is the worst--especially when in direct competition with Beasley's 100kw operations.

Go ahead and do it, roth. I'm curious, since I can only get The Fox I think it is out of Richmond intermittently, unless yall are playing The Eagles about 9:10 and the Rolling Stones at the same time. ;)

Kick It

It's about time someone kicked KML's butt.
Is Don Chase STILL there?
