WKQC Hits the top and no comments?

Give them their due Santa's favorite is K-104.7.

Toi think a few years ago there was a cry to change the format.

I haven't listened for a long time, how they doin'?

WBT is sinking. Their cume is awful. I don't think a better FM signal will fix this.

Conservative talk has blown its wad. You'd think in the age of The Tea Party this wouldn't be the case, but since talk radio has aligned itself with radicals, they're losing their more intelligent listeners. The next big think wil be Moderate Talk.

Everything rides cycles. Rush is still a big deal, whether the headlines are good or bad. Bad press for Rush is better than no press, and it seems like he's been getting his share of bad lately.

As far as WBT, I personally am not too enamored with their current line-up. In my opinion, Larson is good, Hancock is still great, the morning show is kind of uninspiring, and Tara is, to me, a bit flat.

I know Mike Collins is a liberal, but I still miss the days of Collins, Thompson, Henry Bogan, and a young Hancock.

I think conservative talk is in a dip, as Beck and Hannity are getting a little tiring, Savage is a nut, and there doesn't seem to be any big up-and-comers on the horizon. But wait and see. Something big will happen and put conservative talk back in forward motion. Big disasters or shocking events don't tend to inspire people toward the middle. And once again, ol' Rush will shine.

BTW, I hope something bad does not happen, but with the look of things (economy, instability in Egypt, terrorist threats, etc.) I'm afraid something will happen. Glad I trust in God, not politics, politicians, and talk show hosts!

Amen to everything you said.

K104.7 rising to the top is impressive, but get back to me next month after the Christmas book has cycled out.

As for WBT, news/talk radio, conservative or not, tends to do better during a hotter news cycle (i.e. presidential election, post 9/11, snow) so they will likely have higher numbers the cliser we get to 2012. Since they are primarily the alpha dog of talk radio in this market (WFAE being non-commercial and WBCN hardly registering), not to mention one of the top billing stations in the area, they are exactly right where they want to be.

You pegged it, back down they went....boom! I didn't think they'd fall that far, wow! Some other stations don't look to healthy either. Is it time to spin the format wheel? If so where?

Told you Robin was gonna do a good job for K.

Way to go, Ms. Marshall! :)

Is there any hope for WXRC? The cume is flat but somewhat stable with slightly less than 300,000 and WRFX continues to grow in both cume and share? Charlotte has a wide open hole in the market for an oldies based Classic Hits station. WXRC could fill that hole with little or no efforts.

There is plenty of potential for WXRC, but nobody wants to change anything there apparently. It will take that guy selling it (in my opinion, hell will freeze over before that happens) to see any improvement there.
