WKQQ Stream

Was listening to the WKQQ stream today. Stream kept dropping out (not a buffering issue). I used to listen when they were on 98.1 back in the 70s, in Jackson County, IN (only slightly outside the listening area). We had a "top end" channel master antenna on a 50 foot tower that pulled it in pretty good. They were pretty cool back then. Seem pretty standard fair classic rock today. Anything special about them these days? I don't suppose I could pick them up on the current freq in Jackson County when I go home to visit. They should swap it back to 98.1...country? why would they do that?

It would be a tougher task with WFLQ/French Lick on 100.1. Here in Edinburgh, I hear them playing Motley Crue now with dead band conditions at 120 miles, but WFLQ is only 38 miles from the Jackson County seat, whereas it's 66 miles from me.

Jackson County...ever hike on Skyline Drive/Jackson Washington State Forest in Brownstown? Amazing how you can sit up on Skyline Drive on a weekday & maybe 1 car will go past every couple of hours...what a hidden gem that place is!

I've been there. Its nice, but a really small little area of hills. Northwest jackson and brown county have a lot more of that. I miss it there, will probably move back when I retire.

The reason for the switch was simple, going after K-93 (now The Bear) with a competitive signal. It worked. Double Q wasn't harmed since the audience followed to 100.1.

There are times at night in Louisville when 98.1 comes in as clear as 97.5, with the same programming.

Back in the day before the band got so crowded, we'd get some decent tropo and get Double Q on 98.1 in west central Ohio

:) I'm in Dallas streaming it through an FM transmitter on 98.1 to the same Kenwood KR8010 that I used to listen to it on...take that wbul (or whatever it is)
