WKQX To Flip Today (7/15)?

One hour ago, WRXP/New York ended its rock format. That was 5 PM New York time.

I realize that is coming up on 5 PM local time in Chicago and, although there are reports that Q101 will keep playing their alternative playlist until Monday, given the recent selections according to Yes.com - the last two songs being Soundgarden's "Blow Up The Outside World" and Chevelle's "The Red" (from an album aptly titled, "Wonder What's Next") - I wonder...

Update: At 5:03 PM, WKQX is playing Foo Fighters' "Times Like These" - which, ironically, was the next-to-last song played on sister station WRXP in New York.

So far, the stream matches the on-air content. Of course, all subject to change at a moment's notice. According to the early on-air announcements, the online only version of Q101.com starts on Monday...but we'll see.

They have a promo going into spots that says thats "Chicago's Alternative" can be found Monday on
97.9 HD2 ---

All on-air mentions of Q101 have been scrubbed --- just WKQX out of spot sets

The sale of Q101's brand, website, and history over to Broadcast Barter apparently took effect in the middle of the final "Local 101" show - ergo, why the station was only referred to as "this radio station" after midnight Friday.

It's likely that 97.9 HD2 might have some brand extension of "The Loop" - or it remains as "97.9 HD-2: Chicago's Alternative."

It just can't be, say, "Q101 on 97.9."

What are they doing in Chicago at the moment? Still the same playlist on FM as the stream?

It was explained at the end of "Local 101" that jockless music will air until Monday. Everyone can relax.

Then, the website gets turned over to Broadcast Barter (who bought the "Q101" brand) and the current webstream will break away from what will end up on 97.9 HD-2. In effect, two primarily internet-only radio stations will be spun off from the former Q101: q101.com and WLUP/97.9-2.

Oy.

So if I understand it correctly, from monday there is new stream from Broadcast Barter with Q101?

Correct.

For two weeks or so, Emmis' KROX-FM in Austin will be supplying their playlist over to this new stream, but that's just a temporary situation as a new studio obviously needs to be built for q101.com. Then, it reverts back to local control.

Ok, clear. I hope the audio quality is better, it's awful at the moment.

Strange on the player I hear other songs than on the playlist URL's you mentioned. (for WKQX Q101)

The Q101 stream is now indeed independent of the on-air product.

Ok, but this only until tommorow, than the new broadcast barter take it over from Emmis.
