WKRC/Q102 reunion

A bunch of washed-up radio personalities sat around drinking and lamenting the fact that radio sucks today when compared to years ago.

Better a washed-up Dan Allen than a never-been ouuc.

Gee, I guess E. Alvin is a little peeved we didn't invite him...

The question is, will anyone be around or care about a reunion with those who are on the air today 20yrs from now since there so few personalities on the radio that are not syndicated or voice tracked from other cities.

I can't believe the number of people who have written or called to tell me that this piece was in the paper. I'm happy to have had made any sort of impression on anyone..

You and your Q102 colleges left a lasting impression on the Cincinnati radio dial that is sadly missing, and is why radio is in the trouble its in today. You all built a relationship with the listener while being entertaining.

Marshall McLuhan coined the phrase, "the medium is the message" back in the 1960s. He was basically saying that the medium has an impact on how we perceive a message.

Personally, I like the way The Q delivered the message during that period of time. It was fun, upbate and professional.

I suspect you might say the Q-Jocks were the message then.

I just wanted the 10 albums from Record Theatre or getting 1 or 2 Q tshirts when Robert Wagner from Price Hill wasn't the hourly winner! lol

Question: how many jocks did both KRC and Q? I can only think of Prij, Chris Tyler and one guest week with Joe Lomas on Q102 playing Debby Boone.

Jim Fox was on 55 KRC in the early 90 , 91 as the afternoon jock. Pat Barry did a brief shift or two on KRC after he returned from WOKV. Back in 1974, Dave Richards did both the Q and KRC. And don't forget about Randy Michaels.

Hell, I was in it for the free Arby's coupons.

That certainly made me smile! I worked for KRC/Q102 at the time, and I immediately got a mental picture of those coupons. Nice!

By the way, Mr. Elliott...it was nice finally putting a face with the legend at the Taft reunion! I was starting to think you were a fictional character. Lovely reunion. We should do it again, soon.

I remember one night driving the WSAI Happy Honker by the Taft complex on Highland and seeing the
trash can, with the letters SAI painted on it.... Those days everyone was passionate about their station and the company they worked for. Just like at Jacor!!! Or when someone went thru the YES 95 trash and found
they were planning a 1/2 million dollar giveaway, only to be out done by one of the greatest promotions
of all time The Million Dollar giveaway on 55KRC & Q102. You don't hear a promotion like that today
in Cincinnati.

Ah yes...the great million dollar promotion...won by a 15 year old, and the ratings (if I recall correctly) either went down, or didn't set the world on fire. I will admit, though...most everyone in the market thought they were sunk...
