wkrd 101.7 redundant question

i think i already know the answer to this, but i'm going to ask anyway. the signal for 101.7 has gotten weaker lately in my part of town (essentially the intersection of taylorsville and hurstborne) since 93.9 signed on the air with espnradio. anyone else notice this?

you would think that with a weak fm signal already cc would stop denying that 101.7 provides full coverage of the area when clearly it doesn't. and with another fm sports station, cc would get more power to that tower or even change the location of the tower as soon as possible.

I've noticed that the signal is worse now here in Lexington. It wasn't like this a few days ago. It is usually pretty listenable from here (on the west and north side of town).

I think CC put WKRD simulcast on 101.7 to reach the Shelbyville area b/c 1570 has 1600 reaching the Shelbyville area.

one of those signals, 1600 i think, comes from eminence and 790 has a pretty strong signal. that wasn't the reason they put wkrd on 101.7 i'll bet. it probably had more to do with that signal being used for uofl broadcasts when uk hijacks whas and those games are shifted to 790.

yeah, i'm still upset about that move. count me as a fan that would rather have all uofl games on wkrd just to have some consistancy in knowing what station the game is going to be on. but i digress.

it still doesn't explain the weakness of signal in the eastern part of the county, the area reportedly that the 790 signal is weak which is why uofl games were also going to be simulcast on 101.7.

not quite that simple...
CC can't just "get more power" or move the tower...
the station is pretty much maxed out right where it is (lots of other stations co-channel and adjacent)

didn't think it would be. i do however wonder at the amazing coincidence that 101.7 signal fades while 93.9 goes up. perhaps i should have made it clear what i was saying. cc should get more power to that station. they need to anyway. doesn't mean that it would actually happen though.

an update to my current situation:

so far today, 101.7 has gone from barely discernable to coming in with a clear signal. its not strong enough for my antenna to get its rds information yet but its sounding as good as it has been.
