Anyone know why this station went off the air about a week ago? Just curious

Seems there is a dispute between the latest person to LMA 92.9 & 95.3 and the owner, Jerry Russell...92.9 just came back on the latter part of last week.

Tell me more. Excuse my lack of knowledge but what is lma? And any idea what the dispute is over?

Don't know the particulars of this situation, tc, but in a LMA, "local marketing agreement", one entity owns the license to a broadcasting property and effectively allows another entity to operate the facility for a agreed upon fee.
The first LMA was created by Capstar Communication's WJDX-FM in Jackson, MS.

95.3 is back on the air this morning, but now 92.9 is off...Maybe they're sharing a microphone!!!!!!!!!!! If you're driving through, be sure to tune in. It's quite entertaining in a train wreck kinda way, particulaly the "ho" references, ( I've heard three this morning) and the unedited rap lyrics.

I echoed your observation, Jim. I listened to their morning show this morning and to be honest with you, It is not EVEN a morning show. In fact, it's not even an urban format. [EDIT]. Their attempt as an urban format is programmed all wrong and I think they do not know the first thing about radio except those who really knows the business. The mistake that they are making in this is that when you flip a station to a new format, study the area first and see what the listening public wants to REALLY hear. When you flip from an all sports format to abruptly go urban, that's what I would call a "massive car pile-up." They should've stunted the station so that they can execute the format at a certain target date.

Mark my words. That station has a lot of flaws that need to be corrected:
1) WRKG's city of license is NOT Cleveland...It's Drew.
2) The jocks don't really have "personality" (except those experienced)to prove themselves believable.
3) They disrespect the music (ala talking all over the song)
4) Improper delivery.
5) Some of the jocks are actually from clubs and are there just to be heard.
6) Bad interviewing and bad telephone etiquette.

I speak the truth of this observation. But if it hurts them of that, so be it. I was offered to work for them last month and decided to turn them down. Thank goodness I did.

[EDIT-inflammatory]

Thank you all for the information and education. I listened for a short time this morning but the commentary was so racist I turned it off. You are correct they need a lot of changes.
