"WKRP" On Antenna TV: Hot (Blooded) Or Not?

Has anyone noticed that with the exception of the pilot, most of the licensed music originally played on "WKRP In Cincinnati" via Antenna TV has remained intact? Specifically the four episodes that ran last week. I heard Dr. Fever play "Beast Of Burden" on Episode 8, and at least a half-dozen songs over Episodes 5 and 6 were not replaced by generic music. "Turkeys Away," not so much. (There are still a few other scenes set in the studio that use what appears to be generic music but I can't find anything corresponding to the many lists of purged songs on the DVD.)

The episodes scheduled for tonight should be a real doozy. We'll find out if Les tries on a wig while "Hot Blooded" is playing, and if Dr. Fever refers to actual artists and titles of legitimate songs when he runs "The Contest Nobody Could Win."

I just happened to walk into the room and my sister was watching WKRP and I didn't hear "Hot Blooded" when he tried on the wig. It really ruined it for me. I'm also hearing some songs I don't remember. I have forgotten what songs were played on the original run, but I think they have changed some of them.

I remember a song from Quarterflash being on one episode (Not sure of the song or the episode in which it was played though)

Cheers & 73 ;D

Then it must have been some very early Quarterflash, since their breakout hit "Harden My Heart" didn't chart until "WKRP" was almost off the air. (Did you know that the group was formed by merging two bands including one named "Seafood Mama"? Maybe that was one of the artist names thrown out in the dubbed version of "The Contest Nobody Could Win"...)

I was surprised to hear "The Long Run" by The Eagles in an episode last week, but I think the song was integral to the plot of the episode (as was the fact that Andy was pleasantly surprised Johnny was playing a "hit").

Yep, that was it. And he was more than "pleasantly" surprised, he was running down the hall yelling!

Antenna TV has done a better job than most in airing reruns of this great series. Here's hoping they will continue to air it for a long time to come.
