Then Hirsch skulks out of the living room and heads to the kitchen.

I wish they had of introduced Hirsch sooner, the interaction between him and Mamma Carlson was quite humorous.

I agree. Hirsch was like the John Geilgud character in Arthur. Classic television interaction.

Carol Bruce. She had a much more distinguished manner than Sylvia and her mere presence upon arrival at the station commanded immedate attention.

That's an easy one...Lillian was Momma's first name.
Also, Carol Bruce was brilliant as Momma. Sylvia Sidney just didn't click with the cast like Carol Bruce did.

Sylvia Sidney was a great actress, but she was no Mamma. I always think of Juno from Beetlejuice when I see Ms Sydney.
